reading up on itno money is legal tender in ScotlandScottish banknotes are unusual in that they are technically not legal tender anywhere in the UK â not even in Scotland â they are in fact promissory notes. Indeed, no banknotes (even Bank of England notes) are now legal tender in Scotland, there being no such item defined in Scots Law. Nevertheless, like debit cards and credit cards, they are used as money because they are commonly understood and agreed to be money.

Its the same in England. Anything is tender in the UK, just that whether merchants will accept it or not is a different issue.
Apparently the £ ain't stronger then the $$$My history teacher told me something a lil' while ago but I forgot...Any economists in the house?
Actually, if it wasn't for some agreement between the UK and the US (something to do with debt, I forget) the pound will be MUCH stronger than the dollar is. I think at one point in history, £1 > $3
