how Jamaica changed the voice of teenage Britain

jamaican culture has had an influence on working class white youths since ska/skinheads/mod culture from 60's 70's 80's
The funniest thing is there are white pride gangs worldwide listening to the music and copying the style that Jamaicans introduced to Britain in the 60's.
bit of an exaggeration theremods listened to soul during the 60s, and Ska had no influence on 'white pride' movements, Ska was part of the black & white unite / two tone movement, funnily enough it was actually Jazz where carribean musicians got the chance to be a big part of london in the 50sneedless to say, carribean culture has had a great influence on many different (majority white) social settings over the last 40 years, but no-more than the influence whites have had on blacksif brits romantacise about Jamaica, its safe to say Jamaica romantacise about Britain jus as much, or there wouldnt be so many here, it aint like you all refugees
When Jamaicans came to Britain they shaved their heads. This was copied by the white working class. Everything from the fashion of people involved in white pride movements to the sound of music they make actually descends from British jamaicans. Ironic really. And why do you have Roy Shaw in your sig btw?
brits have been shaving their heads since the 30s, dont worry we've known about the clippers for timeand i fail to see where jamaican music and fashion fits in to white pride movements, you jus sayin it twice isnt gonna do it for me, i'll assume you're talking about the NF and the BNP, please... expand

I thought the article was good.. Truthful..But I wanna ask something thoJamaicans of all ethnic minorities have been here the longest..But what exactly is there to show for it? Apart from all the irrelevant obvious that doesnt really contribute anything financially to this nation apart fromHumor, pleasure and negativity. Lets talk economics and scale things up with other ethnics.even the somalians that we all love to hate, are making moves on the economic side of thingsNot sendin or saying one culture/country is better than the other.. Just wanna kno ish sTATED ABOVE
Jamaicans came here and kicked down all the barriers and allowed other minorites to even get somewhere. So f*ck everything else mate
too bad they aint benefited formt he barriers they kicked down
What do you mean? My family are jamaican and they're all working and making P's. Please tell me how they havn't benefitted.
Not sendin or saying one culture/country is better than the other.. Just wanna kno ish sTATED ABOVE
Sounds like you just wanted to chat sh*t fam. Take your illegal african self out of my country*points to the door*
somones catching feelings..lolabaaaat@ your country..Am not talking individuals. And working and making P is not benefit or acheivment, Its suppose its a responsibility
I'm not catching feelings its all banter aint it, saying a country is betetr than another is stupid, especially when it's africans tryna talk.If you don't think my jamaican family all being successful in this country has not been from the benefit of breaking down the barriers then you should just leave the thread.Allow the hate because jamaica gets more ratings worldwide than that big barren wasteland aka africa
Why are you so afraid?

you could say jamaica did all that stuffbut where are the (black) jamaicans from? Africa.Im not tryin to 'claim' everything jamaicas done as africanbut thats there roots, as far as i knowsame with african americans (obviously)basically if your african you will probably have seen things in ur culture and been like - hmm thats kinda like *somthing*example:the way americans go "daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn" and "oooooooooooooooooh-weeeeeeeeee" in arabic theres somethiing very similar (yazole - sp?) that people say in a similar context*doubts anyone will understand*p.s. i think its a combination of the afircan roots and western influence which has made jamaican and african america culture so accessible and popular
KMTSMH comboWTF? Africans always come with that dumb talk. I always give the same respone, plainface followed by: no one has given a f*ck about Africa since slavery. Why hasnt anywhere in Africa made the impact on culture like little Jamaica has done? I mean if it's the roots, wheres your music at? Wheres your slang? I also have to remind Africans that they never wore reg, gold and green 'til Jamaicans
[booker T] Tell me he didn't just say that {Booker T]MarcusGarvey1920.gif60s%20malcolm%20x.jpegThese two knew the deal!

lo@ this eedyat talking fraff about jamaicans breaking down barriers. black africans have been in the uk since the 1500's, barriers have been broken down by many different people. was equiano jamaican then? come like all the other islands dont hate jamaica as well, and they dont hate ON them just hate their schoppid arrogance cos u had one weed head singing about peace and love come like jamaica invented bread or electricity... . f*ck off. jamaica has a black populationthat comprises 805 of the country, yet 90% of the economy is NOT in black hands.. about breaking down barriers, when jamaica is currewntly the ONLY carrib commonwelath country to now have visas imposed on them before entry into the uk. cos u all teefs and wastemen coming here bringin ur sh*t. ur such a d*ckhead and u talk like that inthe HH room too.
Venom deaded off certain manz hype differently
Wow, he did.

small island thats run mainly by black people anyways. and i own my own house, while YOU live with ur parents, though chances are there is no father around seeing as ur jamaican.
Come off the hype
you mean come off the generalisation that is also very very general! and 001 jamaicans making up a large nmbr of carribeans means that they collectively broke down barriers, indians also fought in the war, the whole commonwealth countries helped in breaking down barriers, and many more way before jamaica. however right now jamaica is a burden not a positive.
Back now. Yeah but come on, no one knew about Barbados 'til Jamaica got a bad name and people wanted an alternative to Jamaica. So Barbados and them places serve their purposes. Everyone helped, of course, Jamaicans being the majority :D Black people over here were asked if they were Jamaican for a reason you knowBeen depicted as a burden, yeah. A lot of positive people with Jamaican parentage are now classed as a Black Brit so more time you dont know where people are from.All-in-all I'm tryna push unity for 2000 and great. Bare love getting spread man. Like I said, fufu in the basin, jerk and jolloff on the plate. Also, no hype got deaded yungdon. He makes a good point but man like me will never mention Jamaica and money in the same sentence. Would be foolish. I'm talking strictly culture and impact on culture. My point still stands. Money talk is air to me
