JUANDE RAMOS looks set to get one over former club Tottenham by signing Andrei Arshavin in January. The ex-Spurs manager was appointed the new boss of Real Madrid yesterday and immediately targeted the 27-year-old Zenit St Petersburg star as his first major signing. Ramos failed with a £16million bid to take the Russian to White Hart Lane last summer. But he remains a big fan of the classy playmaker and seems certain to win the race to sign the man who starred at Euro 2008. Arshavin said: "I can confirm that officials from Zenit have begun preliminary negotiations with Real Madrid about my transfer. “At the moment there is nothing concrete on the table. Also, there is contact with other Spanish clubs, as well as Italian and English clubs.” Ramos takes charge of Madrid for the first time when they face Zenit at home in the Champions League tonight. The Spanish giants have already booked their place in the last 16 but must beat their opponents to have a chance of topping Group H.

Even better...Commoli supposedly, before he went, put this deal in place.Commoli>>>>>>>>Gone but never forgotten.

The gist of this Arshavin to Spurs Transfer theory is that we tabled a bid of 18.5 Million shortly after the Summer Transfer Window. Zenit still believe they can get 20 Million+ for Arshavin. So a secret deal was struck with Tottenham and Zenit - Zenit have up to Friday Jan 16th to find a higher bid of 18.5 million all upfront or Arshavin goes to Tottenham.

Yeah got an article translated off an Arsenal blog with the key points;* Arshavin was verbally promised he would be sold if an offer of €15m arrived, but Zenit are now holding out for €18m* Arsenal offered €10m rising to €13m, but this, as we know, was rejected* Zenit want all the cash upfront* Arshavin’s agent, the thoroughly infuriating Dennis Lachter, is reported to want €5m in fees for the deal* Arshavin has informed Advocaat he will not play for Zenit again, and has refused to travel with the squad to a camp in the UAEhttp://www.sovsport.ru/gazeta/article-item/317618 I just dunno, I mean for some of 27 it is a risk he has no sell on value what so ever and all I really seen is a few European ties and the games at Euro 08 and one of them you had no idea he was on the pitch. Now theres talk of them saying a deal will be done next week.

Original post -

It'll take 20m Euros (c.£18.5m) all up front immediately (no installments) to match what we've agreed with Zenit. Our agreement has to be matched or exceeded by 16 January, otherwise it automatically kicks in (hence Lachter's desperation to whore him out at the moment). If someone matches it it'll be up to the player to decide. We can of course enter into a bidding war as Zenit will sell to the highest bidders irrespective of Arshavin's wishes.

Not being funny be were not missing much if we don't sign Arshavin. Pablo Hernandez at Valencia is a bright up and coming right winger who could potentially be better then Arshavin within 2 years
