Liverpool v PSVPre match StatsIn 2006-07 Liverpool met PSV twice in the competition. The sides played out a goalless draw in Holland in the Group Stages with Liverpool winning the return 2-0 (Gerrard, Crouch). They then met in the Quarter Final with the Reds winning 3-0 in Holland with Steven Gerrard, John Arne Riise and Peter Crouch scoring and by a one goal margin at Anfield (Crouch again). The Reds have won four and drawn one of the five meetings at Anfield against Dutch opposition. The Reds have reached the knock out stages five times in six attempts. Dirk Kuyt made his European debut for Liverpool against PSV in Holland in September 2006. The 2006-07 season is the only one that has seen Liverpool win all three group games at Anfield. As well as PSV they defeated Galatasaray and Bordeaux. Only Galatasaray have scored more than once in a game in Liverpool's last 17 group matches at Anfield. Liverpool and PSV are two of 12 former winners of the European Cup involved in this season's group stages. The Reds next goal will be their 100th in the European Cup under Rafa Benitez. Liverpool are looking to win their opening two group games in the Champions League for the first time ever. Steven Gerrard has scored eight goals in his last goal 11 Champions League games. That is excluding Qualifiers. The Liverpool captain will play his 95th game moving into outright second place ahead of Sami Hyypia on the club's European appearances list. Jamie Carragher could play his 108th game in Europe for the club. Fernando Torres scored against PSV goalkeeper Andreas Isaksson in Euro 2008 for Spain against Sweden. This match will see Rafa Benitez take charge of Liverpool for the 250th time. So far he has won 144 and lost 55 with 50 draws. Liverpool have lost only one of last 21 games in all competitions – at Chelsea in Champions League in April – and only two of last 29. Steven Gerrard's next goal will be his 100th for Liverpool. He will be the 16th player to achieve the feat and the first since Michael Owen in December 2001. Under Gerard Houllier he scored 28 goals in 240 games while he has played 207 times under Rafa Benitez scoring 71.
