SYLVAIN DISTIN has rubbished talk of a transfer to Arsenal after being linked with a move from Portsmouth. The French defender has been in impressive form on the south coast since joining from Manchester City 18 months ago.And his performances have caught the eye of Gunners boss Arsene Wenger, who sees him as an ideal candidate to shore up his shaky defence. But Distin has ruled out a move to North London and insists his future is with Tony Adams’ side.He said: "I have read the reports which said I had been in touch with Arsenal – it is rubbish."Firstly, if I had I am not going to say it and secondly I am happy where I am now."I don't know where this stuff comes from. You say a long sentence and the first word and the last word is taken – then it doesn't mean what you say."I just answer a question that people ask me, if they want to transfer me and change it into something else it's their business."I know what I am doing, I know that I am staying, I am here."I don't even feel I have to clear it up. For me everything is fine, everybody knows what I feel and what I think." http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport...icle2083166.ece

Arsenal have agreed a deal for young defender Luis Gustavo Conte, of Sao Paulo's Mirassol.Conte and teammate Wellington, who has also been watched by Manchester United, had recent trials with Arsenal. The young centre-half is the Brazil U16 captain and is expected to remain with Mirassol until he is 18 ahead of moving to Arsenal

Few more I've found doing the rounds.

Sporting Lisbon have ruled out the possibility of loaning midfielder Miguel Veloso to Arsenal for the rest of the season. Arsene Wenger has been a long-term admirer of the Portuguese international who has recently fallen out with his manager Paulo Bento. The Arsenal manager admitted in his programme notes ahead of Sunday's 1-0 win over Portsmouth that he was considering bringing in a player on loan. But Veloso's agent Paulo Barbosa claims Sporting do not want to "devalue" the player by sending him out on loan.
Perennial transfer target Miguel Veloso looks set to frustrate his suitors once more and remain at Sporting beyond the January transfer window.Linked with a move to Arsenal in recent weeks after previously being coveted by Manchester United, Veloso's Portuguese employers expect the player to remain at the club - at least until the summer. An apparent falling out with Sporting coach Paulo Bento suggested Veloso's days at the club were numbered. However Veloso and his representatives will hold talks with the club aimed at ironing out any discrepancies."In the next planned meeting, all parties will try and find a solution to the conflict," said the player's agent Paulo Barbosa.http://www.setanta.com//uk/Articles/Footba...ure/gnid-33451/
Alessandro Rosina has been offered on loan to Arsenal by Torino. The 24-year-old Italy attacking midfield player, who has been watched by scouts from the North London club, has been tipped for a great future and has been nicknamed “Rosinaldo” for his Brazilian style.http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/foo...icle5420792.ece

Russian International Andrei Arshavin is on the verge of joining Premier League club Arsenal in an £18million deal, with the Gunners set to beat local rivals Tottenham Hotspur along with Liverpool to the signature of the Zenit St Petersburg playmaker.27-year-old Arshavin had been on the brink of a move to Spurs in the summer, but this didn’t materialise due to the two clubs not being able to agree on a fee for EURO 2008 star. Now according to Italian paper Tuttosport, Arshavin is set to become an Arsenal player, with a five-year deal in place and a fee of £18million agreed with Zenit to allow the Russian to leave for the Emirates Stadium.Arshavin’s agent Dennis Lachter has backed up these claims by revealing that Arshavin’s transfer to the Premiership will be confirmed in a few days and that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger had tried to sign the player in the summer.“Andrei is rated by Wenger who wanted him to sign [for Arsenal] last summer. This transfer would please everyone but we must wait a few days for confirmation,” said Lachter.Wenger is in desperate need of a playmaker at the North London club, with Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas ruled out for four-months through injury and now appears to be on a verge of a signing that the Frenchman hopes can get the Gunners faltering Premier League season back on track.

"We have not made any enquiry about Shay Given," said the Frenchman. "I have a high regard for him as a player but we do not look for a goalkeeper."I don't believe it helps you [when players link themselves with clubs] but as well I believe it is what we call in this job 'normal business' and we have to deal with that. "I don’t know who he has spoken to at the Club but it is not me. It doesn’t annoy me and it is part of agent’s statements."Mikel Arteta is a very good player but we have not made any enquiry about him at all," insisted Wenger. "There is no progress [on Arshavin]. If there is any progress made you will be informed, I promise you. If we buy a player you will be informed."

Arsène Wenger has ruled out a move for Gokhan Inler. The 24-year-old Swiss international was heavily linked with a transfer to Emirates Stadium in the summer when the Arsenal manager openly admitted he was chasing a defensive central midfielder. However it appears Wenger is no longer tracking the Udinese player. After Saturday’s win over Plymouth, the Arsenal manager was asked if he was interested.“Yes, in the summer,” he replied. “But not any more.”
