Its been delayed.....

Microsoft has delayed the public release of its Windows 7 beta download due to an overwhelming demand that its servers couldn't handle.Windows 7 Beta DelayThe announcement was made late Friday afternoon in a posting at the official Windows 7 Blog. 156841-windows-delay_original.jpg"Due to very heavy traffic we're seeing as a result of interest in the Windows 7 Beta, we are adding some additional infrastructure support to the Microsoft.com properties before we post the public beta," the message explains. The post does not give a definitive time for when the Windows 7 beta will be made available again."We want to ensure customers have the best possible experience when downloading the beta, and I'll be posting here again soon once the beta goes live," it says.Overwhelming DemandReports as early as Friday morning indicated that Microsoft's servers were being crushed by the demand for Windows 7, even before the files were initially posted. Microsoft had planned to allow only the first 2.5 million users to download the operating system. The company has indicated it would like to have the software fully tested and ready for its final release by the end of the year.

Known bugs?Want to format and install this..
The final version is dropping in a few days, wait for that.Windows 7 is essentially what Vista should of been, it's a very quick, polished OS.The taskbar is essential for people who multitask too, and the speed increase is definately noticeable.

Don't fail for this early RTM sh*t that's in torrents and listen to this man as he talks sense when he says wait for the real release. ;)

Also what's wrong with the early RTM version? :/
It's not final code. So basically if you're running the early build off the RTM branch then it means once the final code has been signed off and if there's a new build. Which there is already (depending on what branch you have installed). You will not get updates or support if you're running it. Also a lot of the leaks are not official ISO. and they're VHD's converted to ISO.The easiest thing is to just wait till it's confirmed. Then just download/install.It's not like you can even activate the bloody thing now anyways. (SLIC 2.1 + CERT + Right Key)

Windows 7 Release CandidateNotice: Downloads will end August 20Thanks for all your help building Windows 7. We are on our way to the last big milestone: Release to Manufacturing. Starting on October 22, you’ll see it on PCs and store shelves. As we gear up for that, it’s time to wind down the Release Candidate testing program. If you or a friend needs a download, you’ve got time. We’ll continue to offer the RC download until August 20, 2009. After that, you won’t be able to get the download, but if you have the bits, you can still install the RC and get a key if you need one. (To get a key, just go to the Downloads page and follow the instructions.)

Remember expiration dates: Please plan ahead for the Beta and RC expiration dates. To avoid interruption, you'll need to rebuild your test machine using a valid version of Windows before the software expires. Windows will notify you that the expiration process is beginning and two weeks later your PC will begin shutting down every two hours. The Beta expires on August 1, 2009, and bi-hourly shutdowns will begin July 1, 2009. The RC will expire June 1, 2010, and the bi-hourly shutdowns will begin on March 1, 2010. In both cases, you'll need to rebuild your test PC to replace the OS and reinstall all your programs and data.
got plenty of time to get the full version with the RC.

pisstake tbhat my work we mostly sell machines with"vista preinstalled with XP downgradeable rights"when you have to offer a downgrade ..... somethings not right
Yeah the END USER. People don't do change. Change forces a lot re-training.Especially in the corporate sector. There's a lot to think about before an upgrade can happen. Application support being the biggest. Hang tight some of the banks servers still running Windows NT.
