MMA Megathread - UFC / Strikeforce / Bellator

It aint about being a true warrior or any of that. If you watch interviews with Toney where he explains his reasons for wanting to fight MMA it says a lot more about the state of boxing than it does about anything else, apparently most of the top heaveyweights are ducking him and the fights he wants aren't being made, why would a MMA star go over to Boxing when managers and promoters aswell as egotistical fighters hold all the cards and decide who and when they fight and what stipulations are put in place, I'm all for player/boxer power and all that, but when it start to be at the detriment of the sport its no good. if the Manny maywether scenario was in a MMA orginisation like the UFC there would be no arguements and the fight wouldve happened already. i'm a fan of both, but no one can deny Boxing is dying a death because of the internal polotics, and it needs to be resolved before a new generation grow up to think this sport is entirely irrelevent. Haye even entertaining the idea of a Fight with the likes of Harrison underlines this, especially when the likes of Toney are around the heavyweight division.
LOL DO YOU BELEIVE THAT THO?let's be real the current James Toney couldn't deal with any of the current heavyweight champs

Dont get it twisted, believe me i respect the guy whole heartedly for taking a HUGE RISK and yes i believe some of the other heaveyweights are deliberatly ducking him for one reson or another whether it be down to fear or looking for a big pay check. i swear the Klitchko's next fights are against Shannon Briggs and Samuel Peter i mean what the f*ck?

Toney's a G. None of you lot truly understand how much of a G he is (unless you were watching him back in the mid 90s)I hope he wins, but I don't have the intimate knowledge of MMA as I do of boxing, so I can't comment confidently.

For f*ck sake.i beg a man read what i wrote, i said people are ducking him for one reason or another, whether it be fear or financial, one things for sure i believe whole heartedly he'd offer up better opposition than the people the Klitchko's and Haye are fighting next.but boxing is too much about polotics and money to give the fans the best possible match ups.

you didn't have to be watching him closely in the 90's to know how good he was,we got countless footage on DVD's and Youtube available to us all, hate when people come with this talk.i can start watching a fighter from the 80's for a week just on old matches and be able to see whether he was a good fighter or not. lets not turn this thread into a "look at me i'm a old skool long term boxing fan, i been watching this alot longer than you kinda thing",no one in here has even doubted the guys ability, its just a case of him stepping into unkown ground against a guy who makes his bread and butter there. Standing up he's favourite, but most MMA fights go to ground, and his wrestling ability is untested

toney could clear up @ cruiserweight and make some decent cash atmonly guy testing him there would be cunninghamhe would roll over ppl like huck, alafoabi and macrinelli and get a decent pay day out of it. saureland love fighters like toney who they can fly over to germany and ensure a 12 rounder with some action.shame he will never make it there
