Meireles needs to always play CM, lol at putting him RW.

But lets not get it twisted, thats west ham at home.

Lets do that next week away at Spurs, then ask me the same question.

Lucas Meireles CMs from now on. Konchesky doesnt need to be playing for my club at all. Rather play Sammy Lee there.

West Ham are obviously formidable opponents and we've produced another famous victory. There are no easy games in the premier league especially with the current squad at the club so we knew we'd have to be at our best. I know some sections of the support have been downbeat about some of our recent results but I think they need to lower their expectations because it's unrealistic to expect this squad to win every game.

I noticed something a few weeks ago that I found concerned me, and it's about shirking responsibility. Now watching Liverpool versus, sh*t can't remember the team now, anyway.

During the match, Liverpool was in the middle of an attack, the ball fell to a position between Shelvey and Gerrard. Now the ball was falling in a better position for Shelvey to have a go, but upon seeing club captain Steven Gerrard in the vicinity, Shelvey slipped out o the way for Gerrard to have a strike. The shot ended heading towards the heavens and the match continued as normal.

Ultimately what I'm talking about was a non event, something that would likely pass most of us by but that moment has stuck with me and genuinely concerned me, cos I wonder if the Gerrard factor is beginning to have a negative affect on the team. As in "Gerrards on the pitch, we must defer to him.

It's something I thought about more as I watched Liverpool dismantle a mediocre west ham side, but even though it was only west ham, I can't remember the last time Liverpool moved the ball so well when Gerrard was on the pitch.

All that's not to say that I think any less of Gerrard, he is and has been for a long time a football hero of mine.

I don't really have a conclusion to this post just thought I'd air a concern and see what others thought about it.

Was the Napoli game when he came off the bench and bagged the hattrick

Nah not atall although not getting the examples relevance to you claiming "shirking responsibility". Think it was at 1-1 not sure though. Its true he's been on this superman sh*t for years, sometimes it works (dont need to give examples) and sometimes it ends up working against us. Similar kind of thing happens with carragher but in a completely different way, he overlooks players he seems not to trust when they drop deep to collect the ball from him, happened countless times to Lucas and if im not mistaken happens to Poulsen aswell, he seriously makes it seem like he'd rather give away posession freely by hoofing it upfield than give certain players the ball when most of the time they make a decent pass when given the ball.

As for this season we've had roy in charge making sh*t decisions and deploying shocking tactics which hasnt helped anyone. IMO we see the best of Gerrard when he's in that AM position behind Torres with strong players in the deeper central roles. He worked well with Masch and Alonso (and to a lesser extent Aquilani) in those roles because it stops him feeling the need to drop deep to pick up the ball and make things happen. Although it most likely wouldnt have worked in the same way it did with Masch and Alonso/Aquilani, having Lucas and Meireles playing those central positions would help alot. No idea why roy feels the need to play Meireles RM with Gerrard in the centre and Kuyt at AM, should be the same players on the field but in the positions that have worked for them. Meireles has done well since he joined and needs to be trusted in his prefered position at CM because he will make things happen, he works hard for the team and can pick a pass from pretty much anywhere. Lucas is having a good season and needs to be picked over Poulsen every single time, he works well alongside meireles aswell even though they have had little time to form a strong partnership. Gerrards not immune from criticism, theres been alot of rumours flying around about him regarding rafas departure but i treat them as exactly that, rumours. i can see your point and i think alot of people can but i think there are a few factors that havent helped atall. Its not something im worried right now, alot of fans went as far as saying we need to sell him as soon as possible in the summer when it looked like he could be going to madrid and refused to speak about club matters.

Still wish Aquilani hadnt have been shipped out for f*ck*ng Poulsen, funny seeing people make excuses for it while Aquilanis playing great football for Juve and theres 0 sign of this injury prone stuff. He had his problems while at liverpool with injuries but on the field he made things happen, he forced us to play pass and move football and its quite frustrating that just as he's declared fully fit we ship him out, juve will most likely take up the option to buy him and it will be a bargain, he's forced his way back into the italy squad and is playing some great stuff. I dont have much faith in roy, i could look beyond some stuff but the way he plays the victim and throws his toys out the pram whenever he's asked a question he doesnt like is cringeworthy, im hoping NESV realise he's not good enough and replace him sooner rather than later, some people really dont see how much damage he's doing its gone way beyond the first team and it will be devastating if players like pacheco up and leave because of his shoddy treatment of their situations. We need a manager whos willing to play attacking football and invest in young hungry players, someone who shares the same vision as the owners. Roys buys have been shocking, Koncheskys been sh*t, Poulsen worse, Jones was unecessary. All the successes werent even his signings which says alot. Meanwhile players with decent technique e.g. Aurelio, Insua, Agger, Pacheco, Aquilani have been shunned or sent packing.

Liverpool forward Ryan Babel has claimed Rafa Benitez prevented him from undertaking additional training sessions.

The Holland international has failed to establish himself at Anfield following his £11.5million switch from Ajax in the summer of 2007.

Babel was used sparingly during Benitez's reign and it has been a similar situation this term under new boss Roy Hodgson, with strong suggestions he could be heading to the exit door in the January transfer window.

But the 24-year-old feels that some of his difficulties can be put down to the fact that he struggled to stay in peak condition during the reign of the Spaniard.

Begged

Writing on his Twitter feed, Babel said: "I wasn't allowed to train extra under our former manager, even when I wasn't involved.

"I begged lots of times, but it was simply not allowed.

"And during the season you don't train very hard because you have lots of games, so most of the sessions we had were done without sweating.

"But if I wanted to do some extra work, which I asked for every single day, I didn't have the permission."

oi you, shut it, Rafa is and was god, God i tell you, how dare you even utter a bad word or feeling against him.

At this club we get behind our managers, Unless we don't lile them, regardless of the current momentum of the team,

Babel has obviously been given a extra couple of grand in his paycheck or a hour an a half on Roy's wife to make these comments like.

The fact that you dpnt recognise Rafa as a god figure ,who can do no wrong, AT ALL and isn't to blame for any of the clubs problems right now or inter Milans present form either to be honest, shows your not a true Fan, as all those in the know, Know that Rafa = good and roy = bad,

All us real fans kniw that Roy is No good, and even if he goes on to win the CL in the coming seasons we'll look upon it with a cynical edge and sing songs of praise about Rafa the true reason for the victory,

On the Gerrard thing this has been the case for a long time, if you watch Gerrard in certain situations it is clear he doesn't trust certain players hence him trying to do their job sometimes to the detriment of the team. Carragher also has a habit of screaming at all the players around him when mistakes are made.....even if he made them.

Murks I don't understand.

You were vocal about wanting Rafa to leave, he's gone.

You say people such as myself who liked him should get over him but you bring him up at every opportunity.

/

Kompressor who here said Rafa never did any wrong?

I'm one of his biggest admirers on here but I guarantee you won't have to look far to see me criticise him about a lot of things, namely his treatment of Babel, decision to try sell Alonso, his tactics at certain points etc. Chatting sh*t is not the lick.
