He may have ended up the runner-up in this year's X Factor, but Jahmene Douglas is the latest contestant to sign a record deal.

While James Arthur has been contractually obliged to sign with Syco, Jahmene has decided to join Union J and Ella Henderson at Sony.

Announcing the news of the Lorraine show on Wednesday morning, the excited 22-year-old admitted he couldn't believe what was happening to him.

Reflecting on his X Factor experience, the former Asda shelf-stacker from Swindon said: 'I see it as that growing process that you go through, and just a blessing because I’ve been through so much.'

He said he had made 'amazing friends' on the show, particularly the winner James and Union J.

And he insisted he harboured no bad feelings towards James after the latter beat him to this year's X Factor title.

Twitter reveal: Jahmene was congratulated on Twitter

He explained: 'He deserves it, I’m proud of my brother.'

After his big announcement on the ITV breakfast show, Jahmene was besieged with congratulations on Twitter.

He wrote: 'Just announced on @reallorraine that I'm now signed to SONY. God is good :-) thank you all for getting me to where I am ! #muchlove ! xx.

As well as his record deal, Jahmene has been made a Women's Aid Ambassador for children and young people.

The appointment comes after Jahmene spoke about the horrific abuse he and his family suffered at the hands of his father Eustace.

She said she can’t believe her luck after buying a palatial $12million home and wakes up at dawn every morning just to watch the sun rise over her pool.

Now, new pictures show the sprawling vistas Rihanna has been gushing about on Twitter.

The 24-year-old singer's new home in Los Angeles' posh Pacific Palisades neighbourhood boasts seven bedrooms, nine bathrooms and 20 parking spaces, according to real estate website Trulia.
