RIP Hugo Chavez

Lol at the people negging me, yes he helped the poor with the basic staple goods (exactly the same thing that corrupt politicians to in places like Colombia do to secure votes) but at what cost? He has pretty much destroyed Venezuela's economy, engendered inflation, crime has soared under his reign, check out the ridiculous murder rates in Caracas the highest in S.America, he has ruled with decree changing so many laws to keep him in power, yes people elected him but it was pretty much the same electing a monarch. Venezuela's infrastructure could have been first class by now with the money coming in from the oil boom (which he was lucky to have been in the right place and right time). He locked up people from the opposition and censored much of the media.

People need to jump of the bandwagon just because he called Bush a devil and gave the poor some basic goods (which was to secure votes) does not make him a great leader etc, where will the poor be in ten years due to his actions? He was a good talker with charisma who had no clue of how to run a country and his "revolution" was one of egoism, why would he not relinquish power to Maduro when he was clearly too sick to even be inaugurated, goes to show he was on a power trip..

youre the one who needs to jump off the BBC/CNN / guardian bandwagon. any leader who sees the daemon led western nations for who they really are is always 'controversial'

yes he locked up opposition, but these opposition were just spanish upper middle class cunts who didnt care nothing about anyone else. they were not true opposition, they were opposition to true progress, and they ran the media as well. he gave them what they never got before, a much better start than living under some elite c*nt who's only concern would be to let western conglomerates flood the country with so called investment.

when you consider the kind of leaders the west HAS supported you have to be an utter c*nt to even begin to cuss chavez's stance against the US..who literally bankrupted south america in the 80's.

every south american leader who called the US/west for what they really are strangely has cancer...from brazil's Lula, to chavez, to argentina. he has given them a start..now watch those spanish descended bastard elite try and hand over the country back to colonialism by proxy.

You see this is the problem when people talk about Chavez, they focus on how he stood up to the west/Bush etc. which is fair enough. But what about the state he has left his country in? Is that not a more important issue? The murder rate there is now the highest in South America, inflation is a madness, it's outrageous that a county such as Venezuela now has to IMPORT around 3/4 of food products, he has created more segregation between classes than before. Freedom of speech has been heavily compromised, locking up opposition because they were upper middle class or because they don't agree with his policies? That's fascism. If he loves his Latin people so much why did he threaten Colombia with war? This is not about the west this is about Chavez and the list of problems is endless with that guy, just because the west have committed countless atrocities in the past it DOES NOT mean that Chavez was good

where is your source of information about this disaster for the venezuelan economy?

they have more middle class people than they ever did for one.....

is their inflation worse than Greece?

the US has the highest murder rate than all OECD countries Combined... is Obama seen as a disaster in western media's eyes?

The gap between the rich and the poor in the EU/ US is at its widest in 50 years...

as for your claims about opposition, who is the opposition?  the same toureg malians (called alqaeda by some) trying to overrun mali, were seen as 'opposition' in Libya when ghadaffi was taken out. The 'opposition' that the western backed hosni mobarak crushed for decades (and none of you ever bat an eyelid over)... is now the government in Egypt and still treated with disrespect by the west as if they

the taliban in Afghanistan are called insurgents...even though they have some d*ckhead president flown in from the US to be their president.

opposition depends on who you are opposing as far as the west is concerned. as long as you support their evil self interests you can murder every man and rat in your country and they will find a way to back you.( until they need you no longer)

they set up an 'opposition' when a leader opposes their evil policies which is the case in venezuela...so yes, they deserved to be locked up as they are enemies of the state, hoping to reinstate the ruling elite class.

and the problem with people like you who want to focus on some of the negatives is that you forget that the country you live in, or region most of your information comes from are in nearly worse conditions if not for a biased economic system.

you talk about disastrous economy when your own country is in £1trillion debt.(far higher than venezuela).. and the so called richhest country in the world is also the highest debtor in the world....because the system allows them to keep borrowing even though their avenues to loot and plunder other countries are quickly drying up.

google check for murder rates in venezuela, and you will get given an instant figure (by some US/UK based media)

do the same check for murder rates in the US and you will find a concussion of 'qualified' stats, not just an overall figure like they love to report occur other countries

on the other hand, venezuela have not pulled their pants down to get anally raped by banks and foreigners, which is the only reason why Greece may have a lower inflation rate.

what was venezuela like before chavez? better off yeah for ALL people?

hes not a saint either..but has been good for the people who make up most of venezuela, and thats all that matters

I am not brainwashed, I realise the good things he has done. The problem with Chavez is people either demonise him or idolise him. The general consensus on this forum leans more towards the idolisation side. Therefore I am trying to highlight much of the bad things/decisions he has done/made so people on here can have a more balanced view. Imo he wasn't a tyrant like much of the west depicts, but he aint no hero either. iirc you are Colombian, do you recall that he threatened your country with war?

I know not to take you seriously from the countless dumb things you have said. Talking bare shit about murder and inflation rates, the OECD countries and about Greece bailouts when Chavez also borrowed bns from China, about The Guardian being ANTI-CHAVEZ? LOL. and all the other BS you spewed.  Its clear you have no clue of what youre talking about. Either that or you consciously make up a bunch of lies to back your arguments. LOL Im baffed about how you think you can get away with that.  About brainwashed, you brainwashed yourself cuz. Done arguing with you

Bottom line: he did some great things during the first half of his regime. FACT. From about ‘06 onwards he was a nightmare and its definitely time someone else took the reins. FACT.

Fack off

since 2000, America has been at war level 3 with Venezuela. FACT.

Hence your opinions on the matter. Hence Justin Timberlake the other day.

Also I love Colombia, but we sold out to America a very long time ago. The saddest thing is Colombians have been brainwashed to an unbelievable extent for centuries, most are happy to have 10s of  American military bases all over the country, and are willing to bend over for them at the drop of a hat.

Venezuela's problems weren't Chavez. I just hope without him, Venezuela isn't lost to the powers that be. To be honest though, I wouldn't hold my breath. He was the reason Venezuela can be proud of itself. Now they're just left with the same evils as the rest of us.

Once again RIP.

all western media is pro western and that includes the guardian, i may use them to defend my point, but only lightly and for the benefit of the sheep that have to hear or read it from the guardian.

, it doesnt matter how "liberal" they appear..they are still daemons and will always back each other by skimming over the truth. he reduced extreme poverty in a way no other country apart from china has been able to achieve within 10 years.

yes i can compare venezuela to greece, and btw venezuela has paid back more than half of the billions it borrowed from china.,

Greece wont achieve that in 50 years, nor will the UK, or the US. prick
