As for Thiago Silva he is superior to the best CB from the best brand in world.

The problem I have with comments like this is when you say for example, Suarez can’t be top 3 because he doesn’t play in the CL.

 

But Thiago Silvia plays in the fourth, maybe fifth best league in Europe and yet he can be the best defender in the world by a country mile? Not to mention it’s the most one sided league out of all the major European ones.

 

I’m not even saying he isn’t I’m just pointing out the hypocrisy.

Thiago Silva is outright the best CB in the world but I don't like the fact people say there's a poor selection of world class CB's or how people rate CB's better yet.

 

The demands of the modern day CB have evolved in the last 7-10 years. I think there's still a few world class CB's about, you just won't have them in the mould of those prior.

The thing is a guy could look good in their domestic competition but as soon as you take them out of their comfort zone and put in them with sharks

They become average

I'm not sure about Ramos being world class you know, although he has the best argument out of the rest of the pack.

 

I at one point thought Hummels, Kompany were both world class but they're both error prone.

 

I think Varane is the next player to get to that level in the next two or so years, the next generation of CBs will be much better.

I prefer someone who excels in their domestic competition/european competition/Internationally than a domestic one track bully who does nada outside their comfort zone

the thing about the current lot of cbs is none of them are protected

 

everyone is doing the split 30 yards apart 

 

so they get exposed a lot

 

the only top side not doing it is chelsea and mourinho is making terry look world class by having azpilcueta not move 5 yards from him

 

see how good a center back can look when he is protected compared to what most of them get these days

 

kompany played well yesterday but barca didnt really try plus if it finished 5-0 which it could have then no one would say anything
