Berbatov+Keane-300x216.jpgTwo years is a long time in football. Today both Robbie Keane and Dimitar Berbatov are both rumoured to be leaving their current teams after poor seasons, yet only two years ago they were both part of one of the most creative and deadliest partnerships in the Premier League.Berbatov arrived at the Lane in 2006 for what was then, a large transfer fee. He stayed for two seasons and in that time scored 45 goals and created 18 more. In the same two seasons Robbie Keane scored 41 goals and weighed in with an impressive 18 assists. They put Spurs up to fifth place two seasons running, beat Chelsea in the Carling Cup and had two decent runs in the UEFA Cup. In his first season Berbatov was one of only 3 players in the Premier League Team of the Year outside of Man Utd and in 2007 Robbie Keane scored the most Premiership goals in a calendar year. Such was the success of their partnership that they shared the Premier League Player of the Month award for April 2007, only the second time the award had been jointly awarded. Since then however both players’ out puts have declined dramatically since moving on – which begs the question, what’s happened? The stats tell us that they play best when they are playing together. In the two years since their moves their stats have more or less halved. Neither have become bad players, but during their time at Spurs they had a striking partner who suited their individual playing styles. Berbatov played as the target man who could provide flick-ons for Keane, but Keane could also drop deep, pick up the ball from midfield and set up goals for Berbatov. They were both sure of their own roles, and of what the other would be doing. But inevitably the big four came knocking and away they went. Then the story turned sour. Keane never settled at Liverpool and was back at Spurs within six months, but failed to re-find his scoring touch. Berbatov went to United but failed to live up to his price tag and being just another star in a team full of superstars. But the time while they were together will be the time when they are remembered – remembered as perhaps the best forward partnership in Premier League history.
Sad how it panned out for Dimi. f*ck Keane.

pretty much exactly how I feel. Sad Berby never did as well at Utd and that utd fans don't really appreciate him. He's probably the best player I've ever seen play live. I remember being at spurs-braga where he scored an amazing goal.couldn't care less about keane though

Roman Pavlyuchenko's agent claims the striker will not be leaving Tottenham this summer. The 28-year-old Russia international has been linked with a move out of White Hart Lane, after not featuring as a first-team regular last season.Moscow clubs Spartak and Lokomotiv are reportedly tracking the forward, as are fellow Russian outfit Zenit St Petersburg and Portuguese side Sporting Lisbon.Pavlyuchenko made just eight Premier League starts last term but his agent Oleg Artemov says he is still in Harry Redknapp's plans."Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is not going to let Roman leave, he is necessary for Harry Redknapp," he said in the Daily Star."Roman himself does not want to leave England but, if that does happen, he will return to a Russian club."We have noted information appeared regarding the possible departure of the striker. Among contenders were Sporting Lisbon and Spartak Moscow."But I did not see any movement from Spartak - there were no specifics."Interest from both Zenit and Lokomotiv, as was reported in Britain, was nothing."

Alnwick must be leaving or going on loan, since harry keeps saying he wants the croatian gk because we need 3 keepers. Dervitte and Taraabt will probably be going as well I think. Could see O'Hara and Naughton going on loan, and maybe Keane or Jenas moving on and woodgate not playing.. so with the 3 signings harry is talking about, that's probably 25..what happens to Woodgate if he doesn't get in the 25..does he still just get paid all season? When is he out of contract anyway

XX Jamie O'Hara27 Ben Alnwick30 Dorian Dervite8 Jermaine Jenas10 Robbie Keane39 Jonathan WoodgateWon't be in our squad imo. Woodgate is finished. We badly need another CB especially now we have to play in Europe. Harry was struggling with the players and we played a good 10-15 games less than we normally do when in Europa

Bale, Taarabt, Naughton, Dos Santos and Sandro dont need to be registered. Most people cant work out if the list on September 1st and February 1st, is amended in terms of age from the point in September like on FM or the ages on February 1st.Either way that would only effect Naughton anyway for you.

harrys already parred alnwick & o'hara is gonna miss the beginning of the season so it doesnt look like we will be able to sell him :-(

BEN Alnwick looks certain to leave Spurs after Harry Redknapp pointedly declined to mention him in his list of goalkeepers.Redknapp this week reiterated his desire to sign Croatia international Stipe Pletikosa as competition for Heurelho Gomes and Carlo Cudicini. The Spurs boss believes that he will need three good goalkeepers this season as the Lilywhites plan for a historic Champions League campaign. But as the manager ran through his list of custodians he tellingly declined to mention Alnwick, who became Spurs’ No 2 last season after Cudicini’s motorcycle crash in December. The 23-year-old made the match-day squad in every game for the rest of the season, appearing on the bench on 33 occasions during the campaign and starting the last game of the season at Burnley.“Pletikosa, that’s a possibility,” said Redknapp this week. “We’re looking to take a loan there.“I’ve got Gomes and I’ve got Carlo, which is good, but the young lad David Button is going out on loan so I feel we need three keepers.“Carlo is coming back from a bad accident so we don’t want to leave ourselves short. We’ll be looking to bring another keeper in to give us three goalkeepers.”Redknapp has never rated Alnwick and his suspicions were confirmed in the second leg of the 2008/09 Carling Cup semi-final, when the 23-year-old had a nightmare at Burnley’s Turf Moor, conceding three times and leaving Spurs on the brink of elimination. In all, Alnwick has made just three first-team appearances, conceding nine times. He returned to Turf Moor on the last day of the 2009/10 campaign, and shipped another four goals as Spurs’ triumphant season ended in a 4-2 defeat.Alnwick did not make the pre-season trip to America and 21-year-old Button played the second half of Sunday’s 2-2 draw with Sporting Lisbon. It seems unlikely that Alnwick will appear for Spurs again, and Redknapp admits that Jonathan Woodgate’s long-term groin injury may have finished his Tottenham career as well.
