TOTTENHAM have agreed a £4million deal to sign Fiorentina star Mario Santana. The attacking midfielder, 26, helped the Florence club qualify for the Champions League last season. And Spurs boss Juande Ramos swooped after finding out the Argentine international no longer figures in the Italians’ plans.Fiorentina sporting director Pantaleo Corvino said: “We’ve had an offer from Tottenham who have arranged to pay 5m.“It is a figure that satisfies us because Santana does not feature in our plans for the 2008-09 season.“I expect Santana to join Spurs within the next few days as he has been offered a three or four-year contract in London.”

Know him from FM not gunna lie. He has a rep for being skillfull though, has some pace on him.Started 22 games last season, scored 6 - 5 AssistsProbably won't be first choice but would be a very good option of the bench. Once again, Lennon is pissed

Source: Sporting Life ItalyFiorentina have rubbished reports they have accepted an offer from Tottenham for Argentina midfielder Mario Santana.Viola sporting director Pantaleo Corvino was quoted in an English newspaper on Friday confirming that the 26-year-old was set to travel to London in the coming days to join the Premier League club. However, vice president Mario Cognigni has poured cold water on the idea."The news about the possible transfer of Santana is completely false," he said."We have created so many good players that it is inevitable we are handed requests about them."But in this case there has been false information. I guarantee you that as a club we don't have in mind any talk of transfer."Apart from the fact that Corvino doesn't speak English, as far as we know he didn't talk about the transfer of Santana because he works for us and we meet almost every day."

Spurs Odyssey understands that a deal is very close to seal the signature of PSV's Brazilian Goalkeeper Heurelho Silva Gomes. The deal is likely to be finalised next week, and our own Gilberto is said to have been very influential in the process. Gomes is 27 years old, and a Brazilian International, although he has not played in the current world Cup qualifiers. Gomes starred against us in the UEFA Cup last season, when we were dramatically knocked out on penalties. Spurs Odyssey was first to mention Argentinean midfielder Mario Santana several months ago, and now today he has been suggested in The Sun as one of Juande Ramos's targets. Spurs Odyssey was also first with the news of Dos Santos's signature in this window, and knew of Spurs interest in January. We also announced Modric aahead of his official transfer. Spurs Odyssey is the source of much of the information you read re-gurgitated around the web, and is the place to be throughout the transfer window and throughout the year!
They are VERY VERY reliable. Will be sick if this goes though, called it when he knocked us out in the Uefa Cup.
