TF/S4DK Posted January 31, 2008 Report Share Posted January 31, 2008 Not under rated but in a period of say 3 years - he stopped playing international football after not scoring for 2 years at that level (granted he was forced to the left), Man Utd didnt dominate Champions League like they should've and he wasnt in the final winning team, and he got some mad eye injury and was out for a year... Now no matter who you are if them things happen to you, you aint gonna get nominated for the TOP TOP personal honours.Oh yeah and he's English, humble and plays in the Premiership, the latter doesnt help for European individual honours too, as Henry & C. Surely has to be one of the best players ever in the history of the Prem.Every time I go to Old Trafford he is the standout player. Gets the ball, turns, passes. His pass accuracy is sick.Ferguson has already said him & Giggs are the best players he's had.Thing is, he dont go out and end up in the papers. He just loves football and thats refreshing. Model proffesional (sp)I swear he dont get the props he deserves.This is why he wouldnt get the personal accolades, cos his game is very simple.Zidane, Figo etc... would run at a man no longting, do tricks etc....Probably score more exciting goals aswell, even though Scholes has scored some screamers they come every now and again.Brilliant player but his game aint built for the World/European player of the year type awards.Probably could have been helped out a bit by England or Man U being more successful in the Bigger competitions aswell. Lacoste Posted January 31, 2008 Report Share Posted January 31, 2008 I think everyone in the premiership knows how great he is and he is respected alot, If he was more for the limelight with nike adverts etc etc he would have been in runnings for awards because he is more in the spotlight but he just plays football and goes home, In europe he propably is under-rated but i do know the season after we won the treble Inter Milan put in a £31M bid for him (which around them times was probably a world transfer record?) so i guess thats got to count for something.
