King on loan at Bundesliga side Mönchengladbach

http://c0013894.cdn1.cloudfiles.rackspacecloud.com/x2_7856d32

they are a bit stocked on strikers but with the potential King has im positive this could be a good loan for him

Because although our strikers now are Rooney, Welbeck, Diouf, Berba, Kiko, Hernandez & Owen

Next season it could look like Rooney, Welbeck, King, Hernandez plus a new signing

(for example)

Yea reaching that game tomorrow.

Nope, fully can't be arsed with OT anymore after the David Beckham testimonial I said I wouldn't be going in again,

Plus won't be back in Manchester till the end of the month for the start of FC's season,

And with the charity sheild I'm not over reaching on spending.

My bad that was Gary Nevilles testimonial, silly me,

Disclaimer, this is in no way a dig at Mr Beckham, but the focus of the day turned into a total farce.

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson sticks up for youth as he backs Tom Cleverley and class of 2011

Sir Alex Ferguson’s dismay at the violence and pillage which has raged through the country this week is evident.

Talented: Manchester United have high hopes for Tom Cleverley

Self-effacingly admitting he was speaking from his soapbox, the Manchester United manager expressed his despair on Friday at the sight of a lost generation wreaking havoc on the streets. But his own faith in youth remains unbowed.

Even at 69, the Scot invests in the young more than most. His philosophy will never inspire a more celebrated achievement than the class of ’92, their trophies and caps enduring testament to the wisdom of his decision. He stands on the cusp of an even more courageous choice, though: choosing to put his trust in the class of 2011.

Ferguson has spent much of this summer contemplating how to replace Manchester United's Paul Scholes, arguably the most gifted of all of his alumni.

He had considered paying a premium of £35 million and £190,000 a week to land Wesley Sneijder, of Holland and Inter Milan and one of the world’s foremost creative midfield players.

So strong is his devotion to youth, though, that he has decided against pursuing the move. Barely a beat after deploring the state of Britain’s youth, he confirmed on Friday that there will be no move for Sneijder.

The rise of Danny Welbeck, Phil Jones, Chris Smalling and, particularly, Tom Cleverley has convinced him to replace Scholes from United’s next generation.

“You can forget anyone you like,” Ferguson said, when asked if he still hoped to sign the Dutch international. “I am happy with the young players I have got.

“We have got [Darren] Fletcher to come back, Michael Carrick who tends to develop more around November and the young boy [Paul] Pogba, who is showing great promise for us. If we hold him back, what is going to happen? He will leave in a couple of years. We have to give him opportunities to show how he can do.

"He has the ability, physique and athleticism.

“When you take that roll call of players, I am certainly not looking to add to that. There is an emphasis on young players at this club and always has been. If they have the ability and the temperament there is only one thing you can do and that is play them.”

Perhaps it is that unshakeable faith in youth which prompted such anger in the Scot when he watched violence tear through London, Birmingham and Manchester earlier this week, a sense of a generation he trusts being let down by their worst representatives.

“It’s been an absolutely depressing week when you see the things happening in our country,” Ferguson reflected.

“The really disturbing thing is, here you are, an Olympic ambassador, an assistant schoolteacher and a millionaire’s daughter. What are their parents and grandparents thinking? Have they no pride in their upbringing?

“The guys that have got away with it, the villains, they are never going to get caught, not like some of the mugs getting involved in it. It is depressing.

"They really want to wake up and appreciate the society they are in and appreciate what their parents have done for them and what opportunities they have been given. It’s annoying and you’d hope they see sense.”

Not that his disappointment will allow him to be anything less than focused on Sunday's curtain-raising fixture with West Bromwich Albion.

Indeed, this season more than usual the Scot — who on Friday secured the future of Ji-sung Park, the Korean winger extending his contract until 2013 — knows that there will be no chance to bed in to the campaign.

United face Tottenham, Arsenal and Chelsea in their opening five fixtures, a start Ferguson admits is abnormally difficult.

“The only way you can handle it is to have everyone fit,” he said. “We have got a squad that can handle these games. It is tough. But it will be tough for the teams playing us, too.”

It is hardly ideal, though, given the loss of grizzled campaigners like Scholes, Gary Neville and Edwin van der Sar and Ferguson’s decision to replace them with youth.

The latter’s heir apparent, David de Gea, was criticised for his performance in the Community Shield last Sunday, but Ferguson — unsurprisingly — swats away any suggestion he may need time to adapt and improve.

“It was interesting he was criticised but Joe Hart wasn’t,” he said. “Our first was the same type of goal as their first, and he’s your national goalkeeper.

"The language teacher is delighted with David’s English, Eric Steele the goalkeeping coach is delighted by him. He needs the support of our experienced defenders, but he is getting his communication across bit by bit.”
