Heskey to Villa

Heskey is competition for Carew. Not his replacement...Heskey aint sh*t, his goal scoring record is decent.Wigan are a team that don't score many goals, he was sick for the scum first season, second season they were woeful and he still managed an ok record, sick for Liverpool until they put him left wing, sick for Leicester. He won't be the most potent but I'm sure he'll up the goal scoring ratios of Milner, Ash and Gabby. We're 'replacing' Harewood (who has only ever made one league start) with him. And lol @ Harewood being more effective than Heskey. Just look at their careers.
Has Heskey ever scored 14 league goals in the prem?Genuine question.
Yeah, 2001-2002 season. 14 league goals 22 in all compsAnd he hasnt had a better goal scoring season since then.

I agree with what you're saying, ideally I wanted a goal scorer, but there aint any out there & MON sees Gabby as our 20 goal man I think.I think this window it was Bent or bust in terms of a goal getter, and MON wasn't interested in him I dont think
There aren't any out there?Michael Owen is avaliable for the right price, though there is obviously a big footballing world out there, just depends whether your manager wants to look outside the prem.
He prefers proven PL talent, Owen wants to go on a free and we won't pay 100k a week. Half that if he's lucky. Plus he sees Gabby as the 20 goal man and Owen probably wouldnt compliment him that well.Heskey will come in and fit in right away, and hopefully keep us ticking over...------Anyway, I'm not gonna argue it anymore. But I wonder if the people laughing now were the same ones laughign when we signed Sidwell, NRC, Milner, Ashley, Knight, Marlon etc.
I am still laughing that you gave us £12 Million for Reo Mediocre and Marlene. Both have been shite for you.

Not a chance.Marlon was overpriced for what he was bought for, but he still scored important goals from the bench. And NRC is not shite at all.CM, RM, RB, 7/10 every week.Could of been our captain pre-season.

i dont know, but im not arguing heskey is a goal scorerim saying how can people be laughing at strikers who dont score that much, yet are rated amongst top strikers and "world class managers" as chance creatorswhen their club legends have a similair scoring record
Come on JJ, i didnt expect this from youBergkamp wasnt even a center forward anyway, whats all this nonsense comparing him and his goal record to Hesky :/

The point is your fans are laughing at us signing a third choice centre forward on the cheap because he doesn't score goals - when his primary objective is not to score goals. But one of your club legends had an absolutely horrific goal scoring record for his last 5/6 seasons, yet is talked about in a God like fashion and no one is allowed to say anything negative against him - JUST BECAUSE his methods were better on the eye.Heskey is here to be used as a battering ram to create chances for Gabby, Ash and Milner. If he plays when everyones fit it'll be instead of Sidwell, just further up the pitch.

LMAO @ this topiclike i said before

villa >>>> _______all they need is a sick striker to link up with aggy and they will finish abobe arseanal
JJ thinks they should get Heskey lolOwen would be good for them I reckon
it's not even thathe's trying to be realisticthey need a flair player for when teams sit back but MON doesn't really operate like thatespecially as the answer would probably be foreignheskey has looked like a likely signing for villa for a few months nowhe can bring similar things to the team that carew does who has had a few injuries this seasonowen would command a starting place and carew just signed a new deal whilst aggy is the valued local ladheskey wouldn't command a 1st team place or the sort of wages owen wouldnot even saying owen wouldn't be good for them but it is unlikely to HAPPEN cause of MON's plansand most of MON's signings don't look the best on paper but now look..

I don't think it's good value for money but Villa's squad's thin so I see why they decided to pay it now rather than wait til the summer. It'll be interesting to see how many goals he scores in a side like Villa that make a lot of chances.
'Incidentally in today's market £3.5m buys you a Vince Grella, two-thirds of a Fabrice Muamba, three-quarters of a Bobby Zamora, a Scott Carson, 20% of Jo, Didier Digard, Marvin Emnes, just over half a Xisco, half a Younes Kaboul, two-thirds of Dave Kitson, Luke Moore, or Lee Cattermole. In that kind of market how can anybody complain about signing England's centre-forward for a similar price?'SNM

'I'm delighted he's come. He would have had a number of suitors in the summer. He will thrive in this environment and help our young lads along.'I spoke to Steve Bruce and he felt the Liverpool thing was on. But I realised then that he hadn't actually agreed anything with them as you can't sign a precontract with anyone from your League. I knew the rules on that and decided it would be worth pursuing. I couldn't be more delighted.'I think Emile has a chance to be on that plane to South Africa. If he'd gone to Liverpool, where they are not playing a £20m striker at the moment, he might not play the requisite number of games to enhance his England chances.'Heskey said: 'I have to do what I feel is best for me and my family. The chance to play in Europe, and hopefully in the Champions League again, is a huge thing for me at this time of my career, and the chance to rejoin Martin, the man who did so much for me in my early years, was too big to resist.'

All that might have swayed my opinion if it wasn't for the fact he's available for free in less than a year's time and if almost all the players you mentioned weren't sub 25 which means you have a chance to recoup some of the fee. Silly comparisons to be honest.
