SLR yes, Nikon pref (i own a few Nikon SLR's so battin for them makes)But also if you understand lighting and have a decent compact digital (ideally ones with manual override) You can still pull off these type of shots. (apart from certain studio photograpy subject eg models, blah blah) But then depends what type of shot you wish to achieve at the given time.even the humble camera phone, can pull out shots, if u know what ur doing. (My trusty Nokia, done some handy work still)

I think the fisheye thing's a bit played tbh.It can be pretty cool when it's done well though.

defo for the standard point and shoot digi cams. SLR's allow u pick ur exact focus points... then mess about with depth of field, and shutter speeds... film speeds an so on.check out flickr.com, really good examples in there.

if u got serious change in ur back pocket... Digitalbacks like Hassleblads 22 megapixels!!! lolMainly used in high fashion, and cover shot for them magazines like Vouge etc...serious change though in the grands price region...
