I'd rather get the right CM than a budget striker.I doubt Wenger would buy another CB this summer, probably next summer. It depends on what is available and at what price, as we're hardly in a position to waste money on slightly kneejerk signings.

4 years without a trophy is not a knee jerk reason for signings at all.Our defensive record last year shows we need that tall CB but we also needed a commanding no nonsense defender (Vermelean hopefully).
:huh:Signing a striker to replace Adebayor in THIS summer's market could be a kneejerk as:- there aren't many, if any, TOP/better strikers available that we could realistically get for a reasonable price - We need a CM more than we would need a striker EVEN if we lost Adebayor. What are players like Bendtner for if we don't use them/give them a chance.Next season is a defining season for a number of our players, it might be better to spend in review of that..But I'm not even saying we shouldn't try to replace him this summer I just think nothing should come before a CM for the time being.Obviously we need a centre back but we just signed 1 and haven't let any go so I highly doubt another will come in until 1 or 2 leave.

Sport.co.uk understands that Arsenal are in the final stages of completing a move for Bordeaux hitman Marouane Chamakh. According to a source close to the club Arsenal have agreed a fee with their French counterparts and are on the verge of concluding personal terms with the player.Chamakh will replace Togo forward Emmanuel Adebayor who is expected to complete a £25 million move to Manchester City in the next 24 hours. Frenchman Wenger has been linked with a move for the 25-year-old Moroccan since January but appears to have moved quickly now that the necessary finances have been freed up. Courted around the continent, Chamakh saw his star rise across Europe having netted 14 times for Laurent Blanc's Ligue 1 championship winning side. Chamakh admitted recently: "I want to play in the Premier League and a club like Arsenal would be a dream. If they were to come calling, I would certainly give them a positive answer."The Morocco international has scored 53 goals in almost 200 matches for Bordeaux since joining the club seven years ago, and Sport.co.uk expect the deal to be competed in the next coming day

If Ade leaves than we need another striker, yes we have good attacking options but Ade gave us something different up front. Im no happy with a front line of RVP who has stayed injury free for one year of his five with us, Eduardo who we dont know will return with that same sharpness as before the injury, Bendtner who is sh*t and Walcott/Vela/Arshavin who Wenger will very rarely play up front. Why is it this year that players seasons are defined? This is supposed to be the year we win something (like the last 2 years were supposed to be), its not another experimental year. Dont get me wrong I get what you mean but I'm tired of excuses now. Wenger has to fix up, still gutted we didnt get Melo.

Some people think Bendtner isn't good enough, after the goals he scored last year and the way he talks, it should be expected of him to improve on that and become a more prominent player for us. Big year for him if/when Adebayor goes IMO.The same applies to Walcott, he should get a lot of games this season as his pace is invaluable, wether he can do enough with it throughout a season is the big question. Needs to start producing/winning matches for us consistently.RVP has to prove he can be a striker we can rely and not a one season wonder. Injuries and form included.Maybe even Toure as I dunno if he will be starting this season with a garunteed place and if he will be replaced soon. Will he regain some good form or just drift out the picture and lose his place to Gallas? How will Cesc perform if we don't get him a new/suitable midfield partner?Last year he came back from the Euros, suffered a bad injury and had a poor season.Whatever happens, we can't afford another slack season like that from out captain.Madrid/Barca may come knocking this time next year too, what he & we do will affect that if it was to happen. What I mean is a lot of players that we currently have need to prove their worth just as much as we need to buy players. It would be like Wenger for him to show a lot of faith in these players for another year so I'm not getting my heart set on signings.

Arsene Wenger has revealed Arsenal are not on the verge of bringing in a replacement for striker Emmanuel Adebayor. The forward completed his move to Manchester City on Saturday in a deal reportedly worth £25million.Wenger has been linked with a bid for Bordeaux forward Marouane Chamakh in order to fill the void left by Adebayor but, while the Frenchman remains an admirer of the Morocco international, he insists a second signing of the summer will not happen soon."We're not on the verge of signing anybody but I'm able to spend the money if we find the right players," he said."We're not in a hurry because we have a big squad. We'll see in pre-season if we need to make any additions."If we need to add something we will. Chamakh is one of the players we've followed and if we need to go for a striker he's a possibility. We're keeping an eye on him."We have Rosicky and Eduardo back so we've lost a big striker but have gained two offensive players who were absent last season."We also have Nicklas Bendtner, Andrey Arshavin, Robin van Persie and Theo Walcott who can play striker. We have top players we can use as strikers."
