If given a serious budget from early instead of Jan you never know he could win the title in his first year.

AVB I haven't got a clue what he is like in the transfer market!. It's difficult to tell because so far he has only signed James Rodriguez

Falcao 26m

Moutinho 40m

But like I wrote yesterday he needs a CB,DM,two wingers

If Falcao signs which is looking very likely than Drogba must be off to Milan and Anelka to the MLS or even PSG?

If they don't sign a CB straightaway they are in big trouble if AVB plans to deploy that high line

When Roman sacks hopefully he goes straight to Seleccao.

Basically with Porto

Two CB's and a DM(Fernando) as a three at the back

Two attacking full backs

Two box to box central midfield players

Two wingers always interchanging

The number nine who has to take turns on playing on the shoulder and dropping deep as a second striker ie the focal point

AVB deploys a very high line which is sucidial but he got away with in The Portuguese League/Europa

Chelsea Football Club is delighted to announce that Andre Villas-Boas will be the club's new manager.

He has signed a three-year contract and will start work immediately.

Andre was the outstanding candidate for the job. He is one of the most talented young managers in football today and has already achieved much in a relatively short space of time. His ambition, drive and determination matches that of Chelsea and we are confident Andre's leadership of the team will result in greater successes in major domestic and European competitions.

Andre will bring his coaching experience back to a club he is already very familiar with, having previously worked here for three years. He has always been highly regarded at Chelsea and everyone here looks forward to welcoming him back and working with him.

Modric can command 90k a week at least.

Best player in a Champions League team and with a transfer valuation above 30m.

I think Levy knows this and is going to have to raise that wage cap of ours. That's what people are saying anyways. How can we afford to pay 10-15 mil for a squad player but can't pay a player 10k or so more a week?!

Edit: Modric is around 60k. He was on 40 when he first signed and got a wage increase last summer

A Bola report that Villas-Boas has sent a fax to FC Porto in which he says he is to pay the buyout clause himself and that there is no going back on his decision. Most of the sports papers also speculate Villas-Boas wants to take striker Falcao and midfielder Joao Moutinho with him to Stamford bridge.

Modric aint going. Spurs have been building to get into this position for years.

He shouldn't have comitted himself for 6 years if he wanted to go as soon as they were no longer in the Champions League.

They need to get Kaboul fit and concentrate on getting a forward in the class of Gallas, Modric and Van Der Vaart.

New Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas has confirmed former West Brom manager Roberto Di Matteo as assistant first-team coach at Stamford Bridge.

The former Porto boss unveiled ex-Blues midfielder Di Matteo during his first press conference since succeeding Carlo Ancelotti.

The club also revealed the news with their official Twitter feed reading: "AVB confirms Roberto Di Matteo returns to Chelsea as assistant first team coach."

Villas-Boas spoke of Di Matteo's appointment when asked about what brand of football he hoped to bring to the club.

He said: "If you see the technical staff in front of me, and my appointment of Roberto, these are people who like the quality of the game and have a philosophy.

"It's not just a case of winning it's a case of flair.

"Everyone likes attacking football and the Premier League has a certain amount of goals in every game and it should be an entertaining game for the fans and that is what we will look to do."

The 33-year-old also insisted he is not fazed by the demands for success placed on managers at Stamford Bridge.

Ancelotti was sacked just a year after he had guided the club to their first league and cup double, while not even Mourinho could deliver the Champions League for owner Roman Abramovich.

But Villas-Boas says the challenge of consistently securing silverware is one he will relish.

He said: "The expectations are for the maximum. We want to win trophies, that is the challenge we face day by day in any business.

"Everyone wants to be the best and win something and the challenge is to win as soon as possible and to build a platform for the future.

"This is nothing different from any other club, the challenge in your everyday life is to be successful in what you do and that is the challenge I face here."
