In the end of the day we need a defensive midfielder and we've got one now who is proven at every level...even if it is meant paying a little over the odds for him. Now all we need is a striker and left winger and we'll be ready for next season.

Too much money but so was Carrick and Drogba and they worked out. Can't see how a Carick/Hargreeves partnerships gonna work unless they start playing 2 DMs with 3 attacking mids (rooney, scholes, Giggs, Ronaldo and someone else in rotation). Rio is way better than every defender in the premiership bar Gallas and fully fir King and Woodgate. Carragher is reliable but not great.
Before the world cup Hargreaves would of been worth around 6 mil. He's maybe worth 8 at most now.
