Not a fan of macklemore.

But can't dispute the fact he deserved to be nominated imo.

He addressed an issue no mainstream rapper as ever done or felt brave to do so.

He had some decent singles that generated  good spins & numbers.

A breath of fresh air to the hh industry in general

trus mi!

fuck da hate

his independent hustle alone is impressive

plus that "cant hold us" tune is a banger

/

many black ppl are funny

instead of blaming themselves for macklemore winning, their blaming macklemore

black ppl are just excellent at being gd at certain things i.e sports, music etc but who owns them?

when someone else owns your talent, how can u tell them how shit goes down?

watch how hip hop/rap is going to be the new rock & roll

and black ppl will have to come up with something new which unless we fully own it/control it, in time it will be white ppl's too

Only issue i have with macklemore is him saying hiphop is homophobic. Which in all honesty it is.

But no other Art form would have allowed him to express his views on a commercial & global scale like hip hop did.

On the other hand The beauty of hiphop is a rapper can come out today and criticise that record on his own accord and tell you why he chooses to be homophobic and rightly so.

All in all we can't dispute the fact that Macklemore dest deserves to be nominated and awarded imo. Even though I thoughT Kendrick was robbed on the night

You cant have guys like chief keef, future, 2chains dominating the rap scene and kick a fuss on guys like macklemore getting a honourable Nod.

Muzungu nonesense, the grammy's are just like the oscars nothing but out of touch huddles of oyinbo's out of touch judging music not based on merit but how it furthers their agenda. They will laud macklemore for talking about the battymen but when a rapper talks about white supremacy and racism he is shunne because its not something they relate to. Some of you are confused saying he is a brave to talk about gay issues, gay issues are white people problems and its not in our nature as african and africans in diaspora to take on voicing other races problems using the most prominent black voice medium rap music worldwide. This is the same logic they use for black movies, rubbish movies that wash the dirty linen about black folk and make the whites smile  like 'precious' win accolades but let a movie like 'tula' which shows slaves revolting against white supremacy and these people suddenly get myopic. in a 100 years when hip hop becomes a culture that one studies do you think they will be mentioning macklemore at all?

hes not signed tho,

he has his own company,

he only has a distribution deal(which isnt like ur normal distribution deal)

he uses them to ship the physical copies of his album

No.

He uses their machine. Without the machine you could be as talented Michael Jackson, but your still be "my mate Michael who can sing a bit."
