Them hat-tricks thereThe kids a goalscorer
Tottenham have made a fantastic start to life under new boss Harry Redknapp and got their Uefa Cup campaign back on track with a thumping 4-0 victory over Dinamo Zagreb on Thursday. They have picked up seven points from three tricky matches in the league and will feel they could be clear of trouble in a matter of weeks. For now, however, Spurs remain bottom of the table and Redknapp will be desperate to avoid defeat against City on Sunday.Vedran Corluka and Roman Pavlyuchenko return to the Tottenham squad after being cup-tied for the clash with Dinamo.Corluka is likely to slot straight back into the defence but Pavlyuchenko may have to settle for a place on the substitutes' bench after Darren Bent's hat-trick, with Redknapp admitting that he can only fit one out-and-out striker into a line-up that includes Luka Modric.Ledley King is in contention after being rested, but Giovani dos Santos (ankle) is out and Jermaine Jenas (toe) has been struggling.Possible starting XIsMan City: Hart, Zabaleta, Richards, Dunne, Ben Haim, Wright-Phillips, Fernandes, Ireland, Elano, Robinho, Benjani.Tottenham: Gomes, Corluka, Woodgate, King, Bale, Bentley, Huddlestone, Zokora, Lennon, Modric, Bent.
I bet Jenas starts, he has to play the vice captain. If Bent can play like he did in the week then we should get 3 points, Kings back as well are back line is looking good. Gonna go for a 2-1 or 3-0 score lineThe boss admits he has dilemmas all over the pitch including who to select up front, in midfield, at centre-half and full-back for the Barclays Premier League encounter at Eastlands.Vedran Corluka and Roman Pavlyuchenko both come back into the fold after being ineligible for the UEFA Cup win against Dinamo Zagreb on Thursday.Michael Dawson returned from suspension for that game but Ledley King is available and Jermaine Jenas is expected to be fit after missing our last two matches with a toe injury."JJ will be fit but Huddlestone and Zokora were excellent (against Dinamo), so that's a headache, for sure," said Harry."Dawson did excellently, but Ledley is a massive player for us. We've Corluka as well - that's what it's about. When you are going well, those are the good problems to have."When you are losing, you think 'who am I going to play this week?' and it's the worst feeling in the world. When you are winning and people are playing well it's great to have that headache."I'll look at the performance against Dinamo and think who can cope best with City. It's hard. Benty's scored a hat-trick, so it will be difficult to leave him out. Pavlyuchenko has scored goals, so it's a nice problem."City beat Steve McClaren's FC Twente in the UEFA Cup on Thursday but come into the game on the back of just one win in their last six league games."Mark Hughes has always had hard-working teams, organised teams - now he's got a team that probably plays more off the cuff than any other team he's had," added Harry. "They have players with great individual ability."Robinho's a real talent and you've got to get around him when he gets in that final third."We know it's tough up there. They have bags of ability and they are very good at home. We'll have to be at our best to get a result but we're playing well and we'll go there with confidence."
Reckon Pav to start, he's fresh whereas bent played the full 90 mins. I'd take a draw but anything can happen these days
its alright lads things are going back to normal. robs and wright phillips will bury yous.
Stream?
BAE is f*ck*ng sh*t, nearly cost us the game. I hate him. Hudd is on top form atm.Modric is classBent > Robinho SNMHe's finally starting to play how i want him to, dropped deep today. Red card saved us as did Dunne but im not complaining. 4 weeks back we would of got f*cked. Our next games are Fulham Blackburn Everton SpamAll are winnable, take 3 wins and a draw and we are back on track to fight for Europe, the table is wide openCOYS!
Darren Bent is seriously making a lot of spurs fans eat their wordsCOYS
Good result for you today. Will be between us two for 5th place. Will be a very interesting race.
City fans are a f*ckin a joke.So is their club.Might be the richest club in the world, but they will always be citeh."We've got Bentdinho....."
Seenits alright lads things are going back to normal. robs and wright phillips will bury yous.
Bent>>>>Guys was shower, 2 well taken goals
Youv'e had a 9 match head start. If Villa let Spurs catch them they dont deserve to be anywhere near the top 6.Good result for you today. Will be between us two for 5th place. Will be a very interesting race.
Well that's not really true is it.You are 8 points behind us and we have Arsenal away and United at home next two games.Just because you've hit good form when we've gone off the boil hardly means we don't deserve to be "anywhere near the top 6"It just means the Spurs being sh*t hype was completely over the top and the situation was never half as bad as people were making out.
2pts out of 24 is desperate .No win in 8 is as bad as it gets. For a team like Villa to accumulate and throw away a 14 point lead over us cant be a very good side thats all.
i dont understand that logic at all but if thats how you see it then fair enough
sick wini now officially rate Bent....Harry is a genius
Hear the great El Nino is starting for them. First time seeing the lad live for me. Pissed that Robbie ain't playing, wanted to boo him.Tottenham's defence of the Carling Cup continues with a home tie against Liverpool, live on Sky Sports 1 and HD1.Liverpool's only defeat of the season so far came at White Hart Lane less than a fortnight ago, as Spurs came from behind to snatch a dramatic 2-1 victory in the Premier League. They will be determined to gain revenge but face a stern test against a Tottenham side that has yet to lose under new manager Harry Redknapp.Spurs have climbed out of the bottom three with 10 points from their last four games, while they have also got their Uefa Cup campaign back on track since Redknapp took charge. One of Juande Ramos' only successes this term was a 2-1 win over Newcastle in the third round of the Carling Cup, but Redknapp is set to make changes for the visit of Liverpool as the league remains his top priority.Fraizer Campbell is expected to be given an opportunity up front, while a number of other fringe players could be involved.Paul Stalteri, Ricardo Rocha, Adel Taarabt, Kevin-Prince Boateng and Hossam Ghaly are all in contention, while teenage midfielder John Bostock may be in the squad.Skipper Ledley King is likely to be rested, while Giovani dos Santos is sidelined with an ankle injury.Left-back Benoit Assou-Ekotto is suspended after being sent off against Manchester City at the weekend.Reds changesLiverpool bounced back from their league defeat with a 3-0 victory over West Brom at the weekend, while they also drew with Atletico Madrid in the UEFA Champions League.Benitez is set to shuffle his pack with Steven Gerrard rested and Robbie Keane also missing out against his former club.Jamie Carragher, Dirk Kuyt and Xabi Alonso could also be left out, while Diego Cavalieri is set to replace Jose Reina in goal.Sami Hyypia, Yossi Benayoun and Jermaine Pennant are expected to play, and there could be a start for Fernando Torres. The Spanish striker appeared as a substitute against West Brom after recovering from a hamstring injury and Benitez will be keen for him to get more minutes under his belt.
