I used to watch random programmes on the TV until Face Off came round my yard and FORCED me to watch the first episode of season 1, and even then I was like :|After a couple tho I got into it and started watching it. Then I became a fiend and started completing series' within a few days.NOW: I come home, play FM09 and listen to music. I don't even watch TV any more. Every show is so disgustingly poor in comparison to this (and The Shield).I'm actually pissed that I've seen this in a sense because now it's like "What do you watch next?" I wish I hadn't seen it now so that I could watch it again and NOT KNOW what happens. I can watch it again, but I know what happens next.My favourite characters were Slim Charles (Obviously lol), Stringer Bell, Wee Bay and Bodie (you almost forgive him for the deepest scene you'll probably witness in ANY programme). That scene with Wallace was DEEP. Anyone who truly watched The Wire and got sucked in would agree. That was their boy. To see Wallace like that was pullin at mans heart strings I won't lie. And then to see POOT take back the gun and do it himself was another quick twist. But when you're from the streets you gotta do what you gotta do I guess.I was overly pissed @ Stringer getting killed coz he was my favourite up til that point. The fact that he was getting away with such f*ckries was even better.Season 1 was the best, 3 and 4 were also FIRE.I must address this change over, and I'm going to sound like a moany old b*stard, but I hated Marlo with a passion. He represents the youth of today. No manners, no regards for the rules or elders and just basically screwed over and killed anyone JUST BECAUSE he wanted to be at the top all by himself. I hated his attitude. I never warmed to him at all. Deep down, like Face Off told me, I was overly biased anyways coz I was always down with Avon's crew lol.The thing I loved and hated about The Wire is, just as you're warming to certain characters, something dramatic happens with them.Stringer Bell = Killed.Avon = Jailed.Bodie = Finally forgiven for what he done to Wallace = Killed.Omar = Killed. Always going to happen, but not the way I thought.Dookey = Crackfiend. That hurt seeing that like I said earlier co it was so REAL the way it can happen just like that. The relationships/partnerships between certain people also needs a mention because without it it wouldn't have been funny or made The Wire what it was.Carter and the white guy, Bunk and McNulty, Clay Davis and anyone he spoke to lmao, Chris and Snoop, Stringer and Avon (wouldn't have been as powerful), fling in Wee Bay.

The way Carver went from being one of the cops who just didn't give a sh*t (beating up suspects, not bothering to fill in reports) etc. then after the incident with Randy he realises, in his own words ,"don't you get it? What we do MATTERS" and is willing to report a fellow officer. Which is obviously a massive contrast with the guy in Season 1 who drove into a estate with Herc and Presbylewzscsasdski and lied about Prez pistol whipping a kid. That was deep.

This is what I mean. You follow these guys from the first episode and therefore know these guys inside out. You don't get the same feel for guys like Marlo or say, Michael. They come in late and are just starting out. People see guys like Marlo and Michael and just think "He's greaze". But with these other guys it's different.I went back to watch Season 1 a few weeks back and remembering where guys like Carver came from is jokes. Also to add, Season 5 could have been a little better. But that's unfair because the other series' was THAT GOOD. Season 2 was good, everyone just wanted to see beef. Season 2 was a big insight to where the drugs came from, and the start of the politics. Some of you should actually go back and watch it. You pick up things from that season which explain a couple things in Season 4 concerning the politics.

Yeah, The Shield has concluded. Final episode went out a couple weeks ago. 'Epic' doesn't begin to describe it.Now that both The Wire and The Shield have gone, I literally don't know what to do. :(
I beg no one ruin it and say what happened please. When does it come out on DVD.If anyone does decide to be an arsehole and post what happened can you at least wrap it in a spoiler or warn us please? It's actually one of the reasons I ain't been looking around online. I ain't tryna hear what happened...

Yeah I watched Oz when it went out. And I love 24 more than most, but The Shield is easily better. Jack Bauer is still the gulliest ever though.

There is less connection with Marlo, because his character has virtually no development. There is a constancy to him. We don't accompany him through a growth process - his motivations and goals are the same, from his first appearance to his last. Still a very potent character thoughBut I have to disagree about Michael. I couldn't help but feel for Michael and the other kids. Their transformations from the beginning of Season 4 are astonishing, and heart-wrenchingly painful to see. They're just a group of children, thrust towards their respective cruel fates by the gods. They aren't there from Season 1, but that's a testament to the quality of the show - we see them grow, see them get dealt shitty hands, and watch them suffer the consequences, riding the emotions as it all unfolds.Season 4 is especially masterful, even by Wire standards.
