when will people understand, that to me the success is all great and the glory is very enjoyable and im thankfull for the lot of it, but there are more important things to me than trophies in the cabinet.

The way the club and those associated with it carry themselves and what not, is equally if not more important.

You say United fans are hated for the comments i made, but i swear United fans are hated for being Glory hunters, (the complete opposite to what i am and stated in that comment) the bigger picture is alot more important, There are old skpol chelsea fans that arent happy bout the way the club have carried on in the last few years despite thw success, I know City fans who wernt happy with the takeover and still have reservations, When Arsenal fans start to see the bigger picture also you'll realise alot.

i'm hearing alot of your fellow fans complaining about the current situation like you man are fighting relagation, the ammount off fans i've heard on here and on phone ins moaning bout certain neccersary/sufferable sh*t is riddiculous ALex ferguson was seen as almost god-like by the majority of fans, but alot of things he's done have sullied his memory. I've said it before bout fergie and other issues When people used to talk bout this bigger picture sh*t i never used to get it either but now i'm older and after thousands of pouns spent i over get it, trust.

fergie is governed by his paycheck and masters, with the Edwards regime all was fine and dandy till Martin Edwards left, and then he became a unqorkable guy who was tight with money.

Then Peter Kenyon was the best thing to happen to the club since Matt Busby, then he left and David Gill was a amazing upgrade,

Now the Glazers are here they're are fanyastic owners till they or fergie leaves and fergie releases a book slating everything they've ever done.

Thats what my whole sig is about. The guys a liar who arguably is the reason for the takeover in the first place, someone who was all for fan ownership till the takeover then the fans didnt know what they were on about, an we were told 'to go watch chelsea' the guys a great manager, but a utter prick of a man.

Im just dissapointed that when i was reading articles in red issue an was around older fans who were slagging him off, i didnt get why. But age an time is great for opening ones eyes.

however saying all this, the current problem isn't that we have no money, its that fergies to stubborn to go back on his comments made last season bout there being no value in the market.

The bond thing issued in January has ensured we actually have money to spend now. Whereas last year we didnt have a pot to look at never mind piss in.

Its just fergie putting his own ego and image before the good of the club, like he's done many times before.

I have actually never crticised him footballing wise about anything as his record speaks for itself, but as far as being a honourable man goes, he's a slimy reptilian f*ck.

Thats all, im going bed now.

Shits pissed me rite off.

Amen

Jack Crompton Trophy

July 12th 2010, 7.45pm

Tameside Stadium, Ashton-under-Lyne

Curzon Ashton 0-4 Manchester United Reserves

Eikrem 7

Morrison 28

Ajose 35

Brady 66

United’s Reserves got their pre-season programme off to flying start with a comprehensive 4-0 win over Curzon Ashton at the Tameside Stadium.

The last encounter between these two sides ended in a resounding 8-0 victory for the Reds, and with goals from Magnus Eikrem, Ravel Morrison and Nicky Ajose giving Ole Solskjaer’s side a 3-0 lead at the break, a similar scoreline looked on the cards. United – showing off the club’s new home kit for the first time – laid siege to the Curzon goal in the second half and the brilliant Robbie Brady added a fine fourth, but the woodwork, several near misses and some profligate finishing meant that the non-leaguers kept the scoreline respectable.

Solskjaer’s line-up was built around the core of the side that won the national Reserve League title last season and bolstered by the returns from injury of centre-back James Chester and playmaker Magnus Eikrem. 17 year-old Ravel Morrison – so impressive for the U18s before the summer break – was given the chance to step up, while a number of his fellow second-year academy scholars were among the substitutes. With last season’s skipper Corry Evans away with the first-team in America, Cameron Stewart assumed the captaincy.

Just as in that 8-0 demolition back in September 2005, the Reds took the lead inside the first ten minutes. Nicky Ajose’s clever through ball allowed Joshua King to outpace the Curzon backline, and while his shot was parried by the home side’s keeper, fellow Norwegian Eikrem was on hand to tap home the loose ball from close range. King was involved in the second goal as well, finding Morrison with a pinpoint pass. It’s hard to credit the striker with an assist however, such was the quality of the impudent chipped finish from the young Mancunian.

A third United goal wasn’t long in coming, and it was brilliantly crafted by Joe Dudgeon. The Northern Ireland U21 international rampaged forward from left-back and sent across a tricky low centre which found its way to Ajose, who finished smartly from an acute angle. The game well and truly in the bag by half-time, Solskjaer used all seven substitutes at the break, leaving just Chester, Scott Wootton, Oliver Gill and Cameron Stewart to complete the full ninety.

Robbie Brady was among those half-time replacements and immediately set about stamping his mark on the game. The Irish winger went agonisingly close with a 35-yarder that flew narrowly over the bar and soon went even closer, rattling the bar with a rasping effort from distance. The Northern Premier League outfit couldn’t handle the 18 year-old and he soon got the goal his efforts deserved, cutting in off the flank and curling a brilliant strike past the helpless keeper.

The floodgates looked all set to open, especially after Brady went close once again, but the scoring was completed for the evening. That wasn’t for lack of trying on United’s part – Stewart hitting the woodwork and seeing two shots deflected narrowly wide, Brady going close once again and subs Zeki Fryers and Ollie Norwood both skying over the bar when well placed – but 4-0 it ended. Still a more than satisfactory first run-out, and to cap off an enjoyable night, Curzon president and member of the 1948 United FA Cup-winning side Jack Crompton presented the Reds with a trophy named in his honour. 2010/11 is underway, and next up the second string head to Scotland, where they take on Dunfermline this coming Saturday.

Reds name provisional Milk Cup squad

July 13, 2010 8:45 pm

milk-cup2.jpg

With just under a fortnight until United launch their bid for a third straight Northern Ireland Milk Cup success, we can reveal the provisional 18-man squad that Paul McGuinness will have at his disposal when the Reds kick off their campaign against County Tyrone on July 26.

The squad is listed in the official tournament souvenir programme and as such is subject to change, with injuries, international callups and the requirements of reserve team coaches Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Warren Joyce all having the potential to enforce late alterations. The provisional squad is listed below:

1. Sam Johnstone

2. Alberto Massacci

3. Luke Giverin

4. Michele Fornasier

5. Sean McGinty

6. Tom Thorpe

7. Paul Pogba

8. Larnell Cole

9. John Cofie

10. Will Keane

11. Etzaz Hussain

12. Michael Keane

13. Joe Coll

14. Tom Lawrence

15. Luke McCullough

16. Charni Ekangamene

17. Tyler Blackett

18. Luke Hendrie

As things stand, nine of last year’s victorious squad (Johnstone, Giverin, Thorpe, McGinty, Cole, Cofie, W Keane, Hussain, M Keane) will get the chance to complete a Milk Cup double, while Pogba, Massacci and Fornasier will be looking to make up for missing last year’s tournament due to wrangles with their former clubs over the transfer of their playing registrations. The rest of the group is made up of six of the seven new first-year scholars, with keeper Liam Jacob the odd one out – understandable given the presence of fellow custodians Johnstone and Joe Coll in the 18. Jacob is likely to get the chance to feature for the reserves while his peers are at the tournament, as Ben Amos will still be away with the first-team in North America and Conor Devlin looks set to also be at the Milk Cup with the Northern Ireland U20 side.

Perhaps the most intriguing aspect of the squad is a name that’s not in it, that of midfielder Ravel Morrison. The 17 year-old was part of the squad last time around and is still eligible to play this year, but his absence – combined with his presence in the second string starting line-up for last night’s win over Curzon Ashton – suggests that the young Mancunian will instead be playing a big part in the reserves’ pre-season preparations.

We’ll bring you a full tournament preview and the final confirmed squad nearer the time.

Good to see Morrison making the step up to the reserve squad. Hopefully he carries on progressing and gets a few games in the Carling Cup.

Rooney may be ‘rested’ during start of Premier League season

July 14th, 2010

By ANI

LONDON - Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has said that striker Wayne Rooney could miss the start of the season following his decision to give extended rest to World Cup players.

“Winning is part of what we have to do here, but the main object is to get everyone game time and come back ready, fit to start the season. Even the Community Shield does not come into it in terms of a need-to-win game. It’s the final part of our preparation,” The Sun quoted Ferguson, as saying.

“It’s on August 8 and then they have internationals that week, and then we have our first game the following Monday against Newcastle. By that time, after we’ve surveyed the fitness of the ones who’ve been in the World Cup because they don’t come back until July 28.”

“We’ll know whether any or all should play in the opening game. I have a feeling we’ll probably not play them all,” he added.

Ferguson is aware of possible burn-out with his younger stars, but finds it more difficult to give Rooney a rest, as the club’s top scorer from last season is always so desperate to play.

Rooney hit 34 goals and scooped the PFA and Football Writers’ Player of the Year awards. (ANI)

Rooney will be rested for the charity sheild,

to avoid any possibility of us losing to Chelsea with our first choice team coz it will damage confidence among players and Fans from the off,

and then he'll be rested for the Newcastle match on the opening day, as with all due respect we should be able to beat them without him, i then expect Fergie to say somthing along the lines of, the lad was chommping on the bit to play, so were gonna put him in, he will then play from then on.
