der isnt any proper ghettos in england or the uk for that matter....not properly ghetto by definition, as in run under marshal law in a place where its survival of the fittest, and its more like a jungle than a civilisation....der are plenty in the world....favela's of rio, south africa, coloumbia and el salvador....just not here. what you do have here is run down urban areas, local grouping of poverty and ethnicity. but the authority of the state still runs, and its zones that are still governed and policed in relative control.all these ppl claiming ghetto should jam in the favela's for a while and see wagwan bout ghetto.

What does "local grouping of poverty" mean? You mean like economical background?All-in-all I personally thought that was garbage if I'm honest, but maybe thats 'cause I didnt get it. Seemed a bit contradictory. Also, youre doing what I said about raising the bar for what equals a ghetto.
In a country which has a welfare system based on entitlement, the only poverty is mental poverty.
Is what I was saying

If I maygold2penceT.jpgIn the UK we have mini-ghettos. This is typified by an area such as Clapham - big affluent streets but round the corner you'll have a very violent estate. The one advantage England has, is that it's a small place and it's a welfare state. So if you live in a ghetto area it's easier to relocate then if you live in say, Lagos. If you look at Ghetto's across the world, they all have a common theme - - High unemployment levels- Poor housing and social services compared to that countries "normal" area.- Higher levels of violence then the countrie's average- High percentage of a certain "group" (e.g - blacks/muslims/kosovans/asian etc)If your judging by that criteria then England has plenty of ghettos. You can't compare UK ghettos to Brazilian ghettos because it's not relative. For example the gun controls in Brazil are much laxer and guns are cheaper, so in Brazil a boy can easily get hold of an AK-47 where as in Britain its much tougher and baiter. Also, the average brazilian earns MUCh less then the average Brit so a poor Brazilian is going to be MUCh poorer then a poor Brit.

From reading your little "2 pence" post, I take it a basic grasp of the English language isn't necessary for the post?

bruv its not a very complicated answer or situation....a GHETTO, by ACTUAL definition is something like a favela, a place where the laws of the state mean f*ck all and its dog eat dog, everyman for himself, etc....the term "ghetto" here is slang, IMO, for less well off area's that have problems of poverty and crime in the local community. its not the same as the actual original meaning as ghetto.you could get into a debate about how under some principals the real and slang definitions can be connected, but thats kinda the case with a lot of slang terms.
