Finally jailbroke my iphone since I lost my old one. Probably not much point seeing as I'm upgrading to 5 soon.

Kinda annoying I have to connect it to my laptop to reboot everytime I lose battery. Is that just with the redsn0w jailbreak that you have to do that?

TETHERED JAILBREAK

YOU WANT A UNTETHERED JAILBREAK!

BUT DUNNO THERE MIGHT NOT BE 1 FOR YOUR FIRMWARE

Tethered Jailbreak

Tethered jailbreaks are frustrating because they require a computer connection to boot a jailbroken iOS device. The concept of a tethered jailbreak has been around a long time, but essentially it means this: every time your iPhone or iPod touch reboots or the battery dies, you have to connect (tether) your iOS device back to your computer so that the hardware can boot with the aid of the jailbreak application.

Untethered Jailbreak

An untethered jailbreak is the preferred jailbreak because it requires no connection to your computer except for the initial jailbreaking process. You can reboot your iPhone or iPod touch as much as you want without having to tether it to your computer to boot. If the battery dies on a device that has an untethered jailbreak, it’s no big deal you just charge it again and it will boot as usual. This is how most of the modern jailbreaks work for iOS 4.1 and prior, like greenpois0n, PwnageTool, limera1n, and sn0wbreeze.

Apple on Tuesday sent out invitations to members of the press for an event on its Cupertino, Calif. campus next Tuesday, Oct. 4, with the tagline "Let's talk iPhone."

As was previously rumored, the presentation will be led by Apple Chief Executive Tim Cook, who will introduce the company's next-generation iPhone. The event is scheduled for 10 a.m. Pacific, and AppleInsider will have full live coverage.

The invitation is made up of icons from Apple iOS operating system that powers the iPhone. It includes a Calendar icon with the date of Tuesday, Oct. 4, a Clock displaying the time as 10:00, the Maps icon pinpointed on the company's Cupertino headquarters, and a Phone displaying one missed call. "Let's talk iPhone," it reads.

AppleInsider first reported last week that Apple began blacking out vacation days for employees at some of its retail stores for the second week of October. It is expected that the next iPhone will launch soon after next week's event, potentially on Oct. 14.

Rumors leading up to this year's event have been varied, with some debate as to whether Apple will release a completely redesigned "iPhone 5," an "iPhone 4S" with an appearance similar to the current-generation iPhone 4, or both. Some have suggested the redesigned iPhone 4 could be a new entry-level model geared toward emerging markets that could be sold without a service contract.

The New York Times claimed earlier this month that Apple's next iPhone will sport a "fairly different" appearance. That's supported by a number of third-party cases that have appeared in recent months, showing a handset with curved sides and a flat back, similar to the design of the iPad 2.

But while cases and rumors have pointed toward a redesigned device, leaked parts have shown a handset that looks nearly identical to the iPhone 4 with some minor revisions. Some have speculated those parts to represent the so-called "4S" model, but no components from the rumored redesigned "iPhone 5" have been seen.

Two points that rumors have been consistent on are the camera and processor expected to be found in Apple's next iPhone. Numerous reports have indicated the handset will sport an 8-megapixel camera for higher resolution photos, while the device is widely expected to run the same A5 processor found in the iPad 2.

With no release date in sight for the iPhone 5, a British man has started camping outside an Apple store in London, Covent Garden.

British man Rob Shoesmith is not camping out for the iPhone 5 but as an experiment and a marketing scheme. He has brought no money with him but instead is depending on donations from companies and individuals. He has already received countless donations through his blog; The iPhone 5 Experiment.

He has received everything from food to hygiene products, camping gear to Apple accessories. With the experiment getting so much publicity it has become a great opportunity for companies to promote their product on his blog.

Shoesmith has admitted on his blog he spent time searching through articles on the internet to try and estimate when the iPhone 5 will be release. However, as we have learned over the years Apple are great at keeping secrets and until they announce the release date we will probably not know.

There were rumors making the rounds of a release date on September 7th but they were recently dismissed with people saying an October release date could be more likely. This won’t be great news for Shoesmith, who when talking about the iPhone 5 release date on his blog stated: “I’m hoping it is sooner rather than later as London at night in October can be pretty cold. I’m just hoping some restaurants or cafes will be kind and bring down some hot chocolate or soup.”

The social experiment from Shoesmith is certainly creative but I can’t imagine too many Apple fans are happy with the spirit of the experiment. The first person in line to get the iPhone 5 should be someone who has done it for the love of the product and not for an easy payday and lifetime supply of free Apple accessories.
