C Porto have officially announced the signing of highly rated Santos player Danilo. The Dragons paid 13 million euros for the 20-year-old who can play right-back or right midfield. Danilo Luiz da Silva enjoyed a superb Copa Libertadores campaign, which culminated in a goal in the final as Santos lifted the trophy last month. Since then he has been the subject of intense transfer speculation in Portugal, with Benfica reported to be on the verge of capturing the Brazilian on numerous occasions over the past few weeks. However, not the first time, FC Porto beat their bitter rivals to the signature of a South American talent. In the summer of 2009 Porto signed Falcao and Alvaro Pereira after they had been reported to be on their way to the Lisbon giants. Both players have been hugely successful at the Estadio do Dragao.

Don't you think its becoming a situation similar to what we have in this country, teams opting to bring in foreign players instead of the development of youngsters.Aren't Sporting bringing through the youngsters like they use to?
