Isn't there a lot of evidence that in primary school black boys are high performers, once they get to secondary school this changes? Why is this the case? Why at one level are they enthused about education then at another they all of a sudden have a distaste for it?
this is a popular theme on this forum...not to try and debase your argument, because you make some good points, but this is just oddball science. children in primary school are all the same. some may show more promise than others but this has nothing to do with race.it reminds me of the white supremacists who try and come with crackpot statistics to show that blacks are neanderthalic in their intellect and not on the same level of intelligence as whites etc...

the "black problem" stems from many different sources that frankly it will take too long to discuss on herebut one thing i see is interference from other groups with ulterior motives which is almost always negative and exploitative. Not to use slavery as a excuse but since the uprooting of large sections of blacks, there has been consistent confusion of history and internal struggles, and through this process the original black values has been lost. i share a love and hate view of rap/hip hop culture...i believe its made certain black figures (the jayz's kanye, dame dash, 50 cents) moguls and in the process corporate "white" businesses like the nikes, reeboks, mtv's numerous fashion houses and alcohol brands filthy rich. But what TRUE values can we extrapolate from the music? the true sense of the culture and music dreamt by the pioneers is drowned by the noise of misogynism, materialism, hatred and gang life. that news night interview made me think just how little white media and some blacks in general understand about black culture and history.most Caribbeans and Africans on here will be familiar with stories of parents who send their kids back to africa or carrib to receive discipline and more often than not they change their ways for the better. I've witnessed it happen. If black culture is so bad why does this seem to work. Nigerian/Ghanaian and almost all african cultures not only teach respect but the culture itself is built on a strong sense community where the extended family help to raise kids and keep them on the right path. Sadly, all these values are thrown out of the window in this country, why? i cant explain but i think we need to dig deep into these values if sections of the black society are to rescued.lastly i'll like to say that black parents are letting their children down and we need to step the f*ck up and take charge and understand that we cant condone the lack of ambition and wrong sense of entitlement these kids seem to think society owes to them, or a time will come where blacks on the african continent and in the carib will be far better of than black british because we lost our way.
Agreed

I've always wondered this myself. I do believe a lot of it is to do with treatment by their teachers. Worked in an inclusion programme for pimlico secondary school and a teacher who had no involvement got the yr11s banned from using the facilities because she didn't like seeing them "hanging around" after school. Inclusion my arse.

Agree with a lot of what goldcoast said.At Whittaker..question marks are for a reason. I want to know the difference. Are you a child psychologist or do you have a interest in that field to answer why? I don't say it has anything to do with race... In regards to those instances. I was asking questions that have been asked a lot!

I'm not sure if you're suggesting this is a bad thing? That's the day that the African diaspora returns home.
hopefully that day will come soon, but i doubt they'll be that welcoming of the diaspora if that happens

there are questions to be asked tho.the asian population is not more than 5% in Peckham, walk down the high street, who owns the majority of the business's. But who are the majority of the patrons? you have that 5% selling you sh*t that ONLY black ppl buy, how did u let this happen?
always always wonder this how are asian man selling us our own products?bagel king as well -im gulity of this myself but who we gonna let turks sell us our own food and thier business is more successfull then the authentic carribean shops on the same road
I will not do this.I went into a takeaway after a night out one time, saw jerk chicken, patties etc on the menu. Looked at all the people working in the shop and walked out, it's the height of mockery.Imagine I setup a shop selling Indian food, place would probably get burned down./I know how difficult it is to get your business up and running and many from a working class background full stop find the prospect of it very daunting. The asian community see it as second nature to setup businesses and I've said to people in my circle this is an approach we need to adopt, I do a lot of work with start up businesses and one thing that is almost always the case is that they're starting on a non existent budget because they struggle to get loans.Culturally afro caribbean people don't take out loans or use credit cards s although they might have been managing their money perfectly for years they have a poor credit history. the irony of this is that some people who are reckless with money are able to get loans easier than people who've been prudent with it.Over the past few years though I've been encouraged by the number of people in my circle that have started up their own businesses and have come to realise that they're perfectly capable of being successful entrepreneurs. We're getting there slowly but surely.
think its also about supporting YOUR businesses and providing opportunities for your community. asians have always been very strong at that, aside from their unreal work ethic, they provide work/custom for each other and keep the money circulating within their own community. theyre also pretty savvy, they've come to areas like peckham and gone 'lets sell stuff that black ppl want' the problem comes into play when the black population abandons black owned business and starts buying their products from asians cos the asians can sell it cheaper. got to have loyaltyWhen i was living round those ways i used to go upto nunhead to a caribbean takeaway i liked up there, On one side of the carribean take away was a portuguese place selling nandos type grub, on the other a chinese take away that also did chips and stuff, both places were filled with black ppl, the carribean place was empty and the woman goes 'ive barely had a black person in all week, im struggling' it would be a shame if she had to shutWhenever i swing by peckham, i go in manzes and support. because its part of my culture and i want it to survive, my old man ate pies there, his old man ate pies there...gotta look after ur things

Unfortunately I agree. Take these youths to live in real poverty for a month and they'll realize how they've been truly blessed with opportunity to be where they are.

so man goes into certain shops for food just to support them becuase of their colour? Seen
I walk 25 minutes every time, passing about 5 Asian shops and 2 Eastern European shops, to go to my local black shop. Why should I not care about skin colour or race when the Asian man taking my money is laughing at my blindness.

tbh this is true but nigerians and ghanaians didn't face the same level of hostility when they came in the 80s as caribbeans in the 50s and 60sregarding ur last line, i hope that is the case

Few years ago my dad took me and my brother to this black panther UK meeting down chesnut park was very interesting and we met a few people who told us about this meeting in wood green about starting up black business we had a manager from Barclay's bank there saying that the opportunities are there for black people. But as a people we are very Lax (his words not mine) he was basically saying what u are saying John .He went on to say that allot of black people in this country have a certain mental block which stops from achieving allot of these kinda things.A next man went deeper said all what black people can do is open up hair and food shops. also that black people don't like going to other black peoples shops etc but I felt like he was pushing his own agenda

I'm not saying that nobody suffers in this country. What I'm saying is that everybody has the opportunity to improve their life in this country. You can only blame parents/low income background to a degree, eventually the child has to say I want more. I want to study hard, have a career and provide a better life for my children.
