Former Barcelona star Hristo Stoichkov has hit out at Tottenham winger Gareth Bale ahead of his proposed transfer to Real Madrid.

The 24-year-old failed to show up for Spurs training on Tuesday as he awaits the completion of his move to the Liga giants, prompting Stoichkov to question his attitude.

"Bale has shown a lack of respect toward his Tottenham team-mates by not showing up for training," the Bulgaria legend told Onda Cero.

Stoichkov then went on to question the world record €100 million (£86m) transfer fee Madrid are set to pay for Bale, and added that players hailing from the Premier League have historically struggled in La Liga.

"If Bale is worth €100m, I would have been priceless," he continued.

"No Englishman [sic] who came to Spanish football has ever succeeded."

The likes of Jonathan Woodgate, Michael Owen and David Beckham have previously swapped the Premier League for La Liga, with the latter making over 150 official appearances for los Blancos during his four-year spell at the club.

This Bale moves needs to hurry up so we can see the domino effect. I just wonder what team will be left empty handed at the end. I think it will be liverpool when Suarez moves to real, saying that they are doing okay without him but the big test comes this sunday against united

MirrorSport understands that Lazio midfielder Hernanes , Valencia's Ever Banega and one other playmaker have been contacted by Spurs with a view to a quick move.

Hernanes has so far refused to sign a new contract in Rome, and while Lazio president Claudio Lotito is reluctant to let his man go, the Brazil international is keen for pastures new.

"Until today no one has knocked on our door for Hernanes," Lotito told Corriere dello Sport. "Getting rid of Hernanes is not our intention; we intend to keep him."

Some more big news for Spurs right now.

AVB on Bale's absence: "I don’t think its correct behaviour".

1:14 pm

BIG NEWS:

AVB has said that Tottenham will consider fining Gareth Bale after he hasn't showed up at Spurs' training ground for two days in a row.

That means that he at least thinks Bale will be a Spurs player long enough for that to happen. With only five days left to go in the transfer window, that could be a very significant statement.

good, guys beens a top c*nt by thinking he can do what he wants.

Here's the news we've all been waiting for, Bale is on the way out:

AVB says that spurs are in the final stages of drafting Bale's contract with Real. "It's a dream move for him."

AVB: "This [transfer] can happen in a different way ... [but] Tottenham will accept most likely the biggest transfer in world football."

Boas has confirmed that negotiations with Real Madrid are in advanced stages, but he also said Bale's behaviour has been unacceptable.

Villas-Boas said: "He is involved in a big transfer move to Real Madrid and in the end if it happens, we wish him all the best, but the fact that he hasn't turned up is not the correct behaviour...

"That is the position they chose to take and it's up to the club to decide if it's a fineable offence."

Villas-Boas confirmed that Bale is close to sealing a world-record move to Madrid.

"It could happen very, very soon," the Portuguese said.

It's a pretty sad end to what has been a great relationship between club, player and manager. It seems like Gareth Bale and AVB had a lot of mutual respect, but the tension has obviously got to the both of them.

But this is the confirmation we've been waiting for.

‘How much is Paul worth? Without a doubt: twice as much as Bale,’ said Raiola.

‘The price for Paul Pogba was made by the Real president Florentino Perez, when he decided to buy Bale for €100m.

‘At this point Pogba is worth at least twice that amount. It’s not me who is making these prices up, it is Real Madrid.

‘I said last year that Balotelli was the Mona Lisa of football and if that is the case then Pogba is a Salvador Dalì because of how valuable and important he is.’

Poor Bale, everybody putting it out there lol
