Scandal after another have stained the image of football's governing body and now what many people have assumed for a long time has been evidenced by a video. The video analyzes the draw carefully and comes up with the conclusion that the group draw that took place in Costa de Sauipe was a manipulated show.FIFA must respond now that they have been caught just like an amateur magician is questioned when his trick goes wrong. The question now is how many people are involved in this fraud and how far can FIFA go in fixing the World Cup. For many, this might not come as a shocker. It is clear that for the next World Cup the draw must be done in a way that won't raise the following questions.
When the group draw began, it was the former Brazilian right back Cafu who opened the ball with Brazil's name on it as the hosts are always the first team to be drawn. However, after that, each ball is delivered from a retired soccer player into the hands of FIFA's general secretary Jerome Valcke, who is the man in charge of the alleged fraud. As Valcke receives the balls from the retired soccer players, he opens them to the eye of the public, but then he suspiciously brings them down to the podium where no one but he can see, and then he raises the paper with each nation's name on it.
The manipulation becomes more evident when Jerome Valcke draws Chile's name as he takes a bit longer than usual to lift the paper and where he can be clearly seen switching papers behind the podium. On the other hand, the model and hostess of the show, Fernanda Lima, opens the ball and takes out the paper with the group positioning clearly to the eye of the public, this part of the draw however is not as important as which teams are drawn together. Another piece of evidence is that Lima's papers roll back into the shape they were originally formed inside the balls, whereas Jerome Valcke's papers stay flat after he stops holding them with his two hands.
See for yourself and determine whether the group draw was fixed or if these allegations are based on insufficient evidence. The video is in Spanish, but you might be able to interpret what is going on and what the text is explaining. In two days it has reached over half a million views so there are a lot of people right now who are wondering how valid or random was the group draw that took place last Friday.
