Thiago no

:(

Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara will miss not only for DFB-Pokal final but the World Cup for Spain with a knee injury.

The Bundesliga champions confirmed on Thursday that the defensive midfielder will be undergoing surgery on a knee injury he picked up in training.

"It's very bitter for Thiago and we're really sorry for the lad," said Bayern's chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge on his club's website.

"He's a young lad who's worked hard on his comeback and to be fit for the World Cup in the country where he was born, and suddenly both dreams are over.

"We'll take care of him in the coming weeks and do all we can to make sure he's fit for the start of the next season."

Thiago, who joined Bayern from Barcelona last summer, missed the start of the season due to injury and had various ailments during his first season in German football.

He had been named by Vicente Del Bosque in his 23-man squad for the World Cup, but has now been forced to withdraw

Disagree with Messi's comments. Some people happen to come from a country who will never win a world cup no matter how good the individual is. Zlatan, CR7 for example.

:/

lmao

taking Portugal for Wales out here

so what, man think a whole Portugal squad's gonna develop in the next 4 years and win the world cup with CR7 at 33?

Could happen, but we may as well say Gareth Bale, Shinji and Yaya Toure could win the World Cup too if that's our logic.

How Italy could potentially line up:

3-5-2

Balotelli - Rossi
Montolivo
De Sciglio - Pirlo - De Rossi - Maggio
Chiellini - Bonucci - Barzagli
Buffon

4-3-1-2

Balotelli - Rossi
Montolivo
Motta - Pirlo - De Rossi
De Sciglio - Chiellini - Bonucci - Abate
Buffon

Prefer the 3-5-2.

You don't think Marchisio/Candreva will start?

Same here especially against stronger nations i.e Spain,Brazil.

It depends on the systems because Prandelli could even go 4-3-3 then it will make sense to start Candreva and even Cerci because they are genuine wingers.

Cassano is an interesting one

He has played at three euros and no world cup so far.

True, their tactical flexibility is quite crazy. They have the players for it, don't have to put people out of position/comfort zones to change things drastically.
