Heero Yuy
Quote Arsene Wenger has insisted he likes Marc Overmars but refused to give a definitive answer when asked about reports that he could join Arsenal as a director of football. The former Netherlands international, who works in a similar sporting director role for Ajax, suggested that was under consideration over returning to the north Londoners. Overmars the wrong man for Arsenal And Wenger, who come under increasing pressure during what has been a disappointing 2016-17 campaign for the club, suggests that Overmars could well be a candidate. He told reporters on Friday: "I like Marc Overmars but he's director of football at Ajax. "I'm sure there are plenty of other candidates - I'm not worried about that. hmmm didn't seem to deny that the position exists, and in the past he's been very scathing when questioned about the role of them. Tone seems to have changed. What would man say if he's staying but bringing in a DOF? as everything points to him being here for another 2 years so boy. TF S4DK
Lol at the idea of the club withdrawing any contract. Lol at any DOF not working for Wenger first, which tbh isn't particularly a bad thing but Overmars? Lol... Overmars and Zorc tho... Kind of tells you what Arsenal aspire to be. Heero Yuy
Yeah not agreeing with the choice of dof mentioned, just the fact that he seems more open to working with one. Even a handpicked wengerlite helping Ivan is better than leaving Ivan to his own devices.
TF S4DK
He doesn't care. Club can employ who they want, like he said he manages the team around the team - so Overmars or whoever should know in his mind at least he works for him, some will call that a dictator, but TBH he's a company man, he just thinks he's the best man in the company (and he's right) When he had someone to channel with, we where built to win... O Fenomeno
Overmars has been awful@Ajax There are better DOF out there Grab Monchi before he decides on Roma.

TF S4DK
Overmars makes sense, played for Wenger and doing the role at another club... However it doesn't actually make sense for two reasons... Wenger doesn't need a DOF, he needs a go-between, someone who understands the sporting side, the football business at the top end and the NEED to get certain shit DONE ahead of time. Overmars and Zorc are at clubs who sell their best players... Even Monchi he finds players and Sevilla sell them... Yes this is great but Arsenal want to be a super club remember... darkman
I haven't said Arsenal haven't become a bigger club since he took over. What I have said is this doesn't mean he shouldn't lose his job.. What has Wenger started and what does he need to do finish? Become champions again? TF S4DK
Making Arsenal a super club, it started with the stadium and now they have to build the World Class team that they promised and make sure we really sit at the table with the elite. Da Luv Doc
So they were a super club in 2004, then regressed..... now Tottenham could potentially win the league and we're meant to be calm?.... wtf?!
TF S4DK
Arsenal has never been a super club in World football... We moved to The Emirates to compete with Man Utd FFS. Potentially... Tottenham... Cool. Your talking to me about Tottenham...
Da Luv Doc
So early to mid 00s we were not a force? Smh
TF S4DK
In England, yes. In Europe, no. Club knew there limitations, hence the need for a new stadium... and ripping up Wenger's work and giving him a new agenda.
darkman
To be a super club we need to be successful. Wenger isn't good enough to bring success
TF S4DK
You need a history of success and money. We had success (which Wenger brought, so this isn't good enough talk is air) and still lost out on players cos of money, hence the need for a new stadium... We lost most of our players during the stadium for money... and the promise of success. Hell we signed Ozil and Sanchez due to money and the promise of success... and we are definitely going to need to keep using money to move forward. TF S4DK
I've told you straight, but you lot ain't listening... Wenger is part of the problem, but he isn't the part that needs fixing first. The board (we are led to suspect Ivan) wants to hire a DOF, the two linked (sorry leaked names) are Marc Overmars (Ajax) and Michael Zorc (Dortmund). Nothing about those names say they are coming in to push Wenger to go for bigger signings... Infact those names, the players they have signed and look to sign, plus the remark that the DOF role is more something for when Wenger leaves indicates they want them to continue to find emerging talent. Why do we aspire to be Dortmund when we should be "able to compete (financially) at a level like Bayern Munich?"
