University/College Dropouts

Humble

Recommended Posts

I've got so many friends of mine that have decided to drop out of university this year, which has made me feel kinda bad for them as many went to my school and college e.t.c and we've pretty much been together for years~ Is their life after university/college for heads that drop out???~ what are the options available to them???~ Is it the end of the world???(some heads I know have contemplated suicide due to dropping out)~ Can the university/college do more to help students through stressful times during their studies???~ Have you/do you know anyone that have dropped outta uni/college???~ Does retail work await them???~MOST IMPORTANTLY, IS THEIR STILL A CHANCE OF SUCCESS.Hoping for some sensible comments.......

Course there's a chance of success.I myself am looking to go back during September maybe do evening classes so I can still do full-time work.Best example close to me is proberly my uncle he went back to his bits, moved up to work at Olympia on to Excel now Asia World in Hong Kong.

Lol you gotta be joking.Surely you're not asking whether someone needs university education to succeed.. SURELY

my friend dropped out of of college, and now she wishes she hadn't. she didn't get the best grades for gcse's so she ended up working in retail, then she got pregnant, and now she can't get a job. i was talking to her y/day and she was telling me how if she could start again she would do things differently. sound like she should be posting in carpe's thread

i know alot of people who's dropped outta uni, i dont think u always need a degree to get into the profession you want. Im draggin my heels about goin into my 3rd year at the mo, there's too much theory in film course not enough pratical. If anything i dont think i needed to go uni to do what i wanted to do, i just didnt fancy the idea of being a runner fulltime that's all.

some people NEED education to keep them controlled until they reach maturity.certain man will drop outta uni and work in wh smiths with no other plans or aims, just happy to work away and occasionally get bonus payments for hitting daily target and other foolishness that will boost their income from 11,000 to 11,500. SMHothers will jam on their mums sofa and blaze all day.then theres the heads who will wake up at 9am even though they have nowhere to go and make their lil schemes and plans floating round in their heads reality. Or be on the lookout for opportunities that will have them living nicely.sadly hardly anyone is like the last scenario. most end up like the first two.

Anyone who's on a BTEC course, its pretty much a no brainer not to drop it, it would mean you would have wasted a year on your life with nothing to show for it..I did music tech and HATED it after a year, there was bare sh*t on it that i really wasnt interested in, but went the 2nd year, and i have a qualification for pretty much just being there..A Levels is another ting coz at least you'll have the AS

you can drop out of uni if you feel it isnt for you and have something else burning within you that you wanna pursue, long as you have that passion really. you dont even have to start a business... one of my friend's dropped out of uni..but has never been out of IT work doing nicely for himself. to drop out and loaf around is where you'll be pissed. but its not where you've been, its where you're at that matters

Most times when people drop out of uni it usually turns out that they didnt think it through properly, i.e didnt plan out exactly what they were gonna do after they drop out, or planned to do something unrealistic such as "record tunes and crack america in 6 months" then they end up regretting dropping out in the first place. Also, in most cases people who go to uni just to get a degree and end up doing any mickey mouse course just because it sounds entertaining may end up being in the same category as drop outs eventually anyway.
