The £150m expansion will lead to 300 new outlets opening over the next three to five years. The chicken chain, which already has 760 outlets in the UK, says it is doing good business during the recession as people are drawn to cheaper food. KFC boss Martin Shuker said the chain was growing its market share and taking business from rivals such as McDonalds. He said the group had seen sales rise in all but one of the past 15 years. Franchises Last year, the chain opened 36 new restaurants and plans to open 44 this year. "We are seeing really strong growth," Mr Shuker said. KFC currently employs 22,000 staff in the UK.
