Juventus' bid to sign Fiorentina midfielder Felipe Melo could be in jeopardy after the Viola failed to agree terms with Marco Marchionni. Brazil international Melo's switch to Juve appeared imminent after reports claimed they had beaten Arsenal to his signature. It is suggested Juve struck an agreement of cash plus right winger Marchionni in order to meet Melo's buy-out clause of £21.6million.However, Marchionni's agent, Bruno Carpeggiani, has revealed that Fiorentina would not meet the player's wage demands."Unfortunately, nothing will be done," Carpeggiani told Gazzetta.it."We only asked for €200,000 (£173,000) more than the amount Marco earns at Juventus, but Fiorentina wouldn't agree. It's a pity."
Skysports.
Fiorentina have claimed Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is keen to discuss the transfer of Felipe Melo after the Italian club stated Emmanuel Eboue would be a 'valid swap'. The Viola recently confirmed that Melo's new contract extension holds a €25million (£21.4m) buy-out clause, sparking opinion that a deal could be in the offing.Serie A rivals Juventus are said to be keen admirers of the Brazilian enforcer, but Fiorentina have intimated the Gunners are leading the chase for his signature.Fiorentina appear interested in striking a deal that would involve wing-back Eboue, who is seeking regular first-team football in the new season.Swap"(Arsenal manager Arsene) Wenger wants to talk to me," said Fiorentina sporting director Pantaleo Corvino to Gazzetta dello Sport."I have no objection also because Eboue seems a valid swap."Corvino also rejected reports in Italy that Juve are poised to complete the transfer of Melo, who has explained that he is happy in Florence."In order for that (Melo to go to Juve) to happen, there needs to be a payment of €25million as stipulated in his release clause," he said."No club has made such an offer and there are no meetings arranged in the near future."

Lazio have rejected an offer for Goran Pandev from Zenit St Petersburg, with president Claudio Lotito describing the bid as 'unacceptable'. Lotito has confirmed that he is prepared to sell Macedonian striker Pandev for the right price, along with team-mates Cristian Ledesma and Lorenzo Di Silvestri.Zenit have made a move to sign Pandev, with the Russian outfit confirming their offer, believed to be worth £13million, was turned down by Lazio.Reports claim Lotito wants at least £15million for the forward and he insists he will not be pressured into selling at a price below his valuation."Zenit's offer was unacceptable. I don't like extortion," Lotito told reporters."I am ready to get a hammer and nail to pin whoever wants to leave on to the stands of the Stadio Olimpico."If someone wants to go, then they have to bring the money. We have already set Pandev's price tag."Pandev has also been linked with Tottenham, Juventus and clubs in Germany following conflicting reports about whether he wants to leave Lazio.

Marco Marchionni is set to join Fiorentina from Juventus, paving the way for Felipe Melo to move in the opposite direction. Juventus are eager to sign Melo and it was reported earlier this week that they had offered cash plus Marchionni in order to meet the Fiorentina midfielder's buy-out clause of £21.6million.An exchange then appeared in doubt due to Marchionni's wage demands, but the winger has now agreed to come to Fiorentina."Florence was always my first choice," the 28-year-old Italian told reporters.Italian sources suggest that Juventus will now aim to finalise a move for Melo in the next couple of days. The Brazilian had also been a transfer target for Arsenal but it appears Arsene Wenger may have to turn his focus elsewhere.

Skysports.com understands Liverpool are lining up a move for Inter Milan's Esteban Cambiasso in case they lose either Xabi Alonso or Javier Mascherano.Reds boss Rafa Benitez is fighting to keep hold of midfield duo Alonso and Mascherano with the pair being strongly linked with moves to Spain.Big-spending Real Madrid have openly declared their interest in Alonso, while Barcelona have refused to rule out a bid for Mascherano.Benitez insists the pair will not be leaving Merseyside, but he is thought to be drawing up possible replacements in case he loses one or both of them with Cambiasso thought to be at the top of his wanted list.Cambiasso has established himself as a key player for Inter since his arrival from Real Madrid in 2004 and Jose Mourinho would be loath to lose him.Benitez is thought to be a big admirer of Cambiasso and could step up his interest if he loses either of his two midfield stars before the close of the transfer window.
SSNInteresting.

Sun are going hard trying to make it look like every single player is rejecting United. Talking about us missing out on Huntelaar to stuttgart now lol
Real Madrid have confirmed they are in advanced negotiations over the sale of Klaas-Jan Huntelaar to Stuttgart. The 25-year-old Holland international moved to the Bernabeu from Ajax in January but appears to be surplus to requirements following the arrival of president Florentino Perez.Stuttgart have agreed to pay the player's €20million (£17.2million) asking price and Real sporting director Miguel Pardeza has revealed it is now up to Huntelaar to decide whether to complete the move."[Madrid director general Jorge] Valdano wants to involve him in the situation and for him to make a decision," he said.Huntelaar's agent, Arnold Oosterveer, confirmed that Stuttgart are the interested party but revealed that the player is still unsure where he will be playing next season."He will have a conversation with the coach and the club today and then we will calmly await developments," he told De Telegraaf."We will also talk to Stuttgart."Real have offered him to everyone, but it is clear that Klaas-Jan will be the one to decide where he goes."Stuttgart are a fine club, but there are many other clubs interested, and maybe he will stay in Madrid."Klaas-Jan has a contract until 2013."Stuttgart were also interested in Hoffenheim striker Demba Ba, but it appears they have now ended their pursuit after making progress with Huntelaar.Hoffenheim general manager Jan Schindelmeister told Rhein-Neckar-Zeitung: "It's true - Stuttgart are no longer interested in signing him."

Everton have secured the services of Manchester City striker Jo on a season-long loan with the option of a permanent deal. The Brazilian front-man spent the second half of last season at Goodison Park having struggled to find form at Eastlands since joining the club from CSKA Moscow.Club officials are working on the finer details of the deal but are confident Jo could figure in a pre-season friendly against Bury on Friday night.Jo scored five goals in 12 appearances for the Toffees, with David Moyes full of praise for the ease in which he settled in on Merseyside. The player made no secret of his desire to return to Goodison upon the expiration of his loan spell and has now been granted his wish. With Manchester City having landed Roque Santa Cruz and lodged interest in both Carlos Tevez and Samuel Eto'o, it looks as though Jo's days at City are numbered.
Real Madrid sporting director Miguel Pardeza says the club will not attempt to sign Cesc Fabregas this summer. The Arsenal captain, 22, has repeatedly committed his immediate future to the Gunners, but Real are understood to be long-term admirers and Barcelona have hinted that they make a move this summer. However, although Real are still eager to sign a central midfielder, Pardeza has revealed the Spain star is not under consideration at this time."He is a great player, there's no doubt about that, but at this moment he is not a target for Real Madrid," he said."The club is working on other alternatives."Xabi Alonso is believed to be Real's top target for the position and, although Pardeza has reiterated that the club are unhappy with Liverpool's asking price, he stressed that a deal could still go through."Madrid must not discard an option until it's totally gone," he said."There is an insurmountable financial barrier at the moment, but it's something that could change."We're looking at other options, although there aren't many."Real director of institutional relations Emilio Butragueno has also suggested that the club are hopeful of securing Alonso."There are many weeks remaining," he said. "We must show patience. There is time."Rafa Benitez reiterated this week that he expected to retain Alonso and called on the player to show loyalty to the club.

Manchester United have targeted Atletico Madrid star Sergio Aguero and are plotting a player-plus-cash offer for the Argentine sensation.United chief Sir Alex Ferguson is looking for more fire-power up front following the departures of Cristaino Ronaldo and Carlos Tevez, despite the arrival of Michael Owen. And South American ace Aguero, the 21-year-old son-in-law of Diego Maradona, is a possible option with Atletico ready to sell - if the price is right.United intermediaries have approached Atletico to see if they would be interested in a deal worth £30million plus Portuguese winger Nani.Another option that might make the Madrid outfit more interested, would see a payment of £18m plus Dimitar Berbatov, who had an underwhelming first season at Old Trafford after his arrival from Spurs. But selling Berbatov would only decrease the striking options available to Fergie, who would then also have to go looking for a big man, with Real Madrid’s Klaas-Jan Huntelaar seemingly more likely to join either Stuttgart or Marseilles. So far, Atletico are still holding out for the full £52million valuation written into Aguero’s release clause following his £16m signing from Independiete three years ago.Aguero’s personal terms might also be a problem, with the Argentine understood to want somewhere in the region of £200,000 per week, which would destroy the Old Trafford pay structure and make him the biggest earner by far.United will not even consider such a salary but are aware that it would be an opening gambit by the player and his representatives, taking advantage of the instability caused by Real Madrid and Manchester City.More pertinently, United are aware that despite claims to the contrary, Atletico are ready to do business and that it is a matter of price alone, which opens up the opportunity of landing their man.
