This happened to my original 60GB (A) model...

Apparently, its something to with the hardware which makes it backwards compatible with PSOne and PS2...............

This is why that feature was removed from later models (L)

40GB's and youngger models should be fine

I got a replacement (A), which broke str8 away. Then I had to kick and scream for them to give me an early (E)

If you don't care about the card reader/backwards compatibility etc, try and talk them into giving u a slim.

lol Should be reading posts before making them statements man. Mine already broke down a few weeks back. I have fixed it myself and so far so good, wether it breaks down again or not is another issue.

Yea everyones consoles diff though, amount of usage. So it's a matter of how many Months maybe. Nothing lasts forever. Exluding the likes of Megadrive and Snes etc which never seem to die.

The YLOD is usually caused by the GPU being lifted off the motherboard due to overheating the board

Its easy to fix yourself with a tutorial provided

all you need is a screw driver, heat gun, thermal paste and 2 hours free time to do it

but sometimes it can be fixed by removing and inserting the hard drive
