Lukas Podolski says he will make a decision on his future in the summer after again expressing his frustration at a perceived failure to keep promises by Cologne. The Germany international has a further season remaining on his contract at Cologne and the club have been keen to discuss an extension. However, after Podolski was linked with a January move to Arsenal, the striker is weighing up his future after confirming he is likely to move abroad if he decides to leave Cologne.

"If I were to move, then the way things stand at the moment, I would move abroad," Podolski told Bild am Sonntag newspaper.

"I speak German, Polish, English and Cologne dialect - I think you can get anywhere with that combination.

"I am always receiving enquiries and if they had been really attractive, I wouldn't be here now. But seriously, I will make up my mind no sooner than the summer."

Podolski also claims that promises have not been met since he arrived from Bayern Munich two-and-a-half years ago. He added: "I was told that a team would be built around me so that we could establish ourselves first in the top eight and then in the top six.

"I had lots of promises made to me before my move here and I wanted to play my part in achieving these things together.

"[Former Cologne coach] Christoph Daum once said that lots of promises are made, but few are maintained here and I think my situation confirms that.

"When you see what perspectives were shown to me and what has actually happened in the end, it is disappointing."

SNUBBED Theo Walcott has been left stunned by Arsenal failing to hold contract talks before he goes to Euro 2012.

While the Gunners made a big effort to negotiate with Robin Van Persie this week, they made no attempt to speak face to face with Walcott, who also has a year left on his deal.

Manchester City, Chelsea and Tottenham are all aware of the 23-year-old’s unrest at his treatment.

Arsenal are playing a risky game as he can leave on a free next summer.

Even if Arsenal do make an effort to bring Walcott in for talks before joining England, it is understood the winger will say ‘no’ because he does not want any distractions before Euro 2012.

Walcott joined the Gunners in a £15m deal in January 2006 and has been capped 22 times by his country.

But after a season in which his form was patchy, boss Arsene Wenger does not appear to be pulling out the stops to keep him.

Midfielder Alex Song is also going into the last year of his deal.

So the club face having to sell Van Persie, Walcott and Song or risk losing them on frees in a year.

Gunner be a clear-out: Arsenal trying to offload up to seven stars in bid to free up transfer cash

Nicklas Bendtner, Denilson, Sebastien Squillaci and Johan Djourou could all face the axe to make room for Junior Hoilett, Salomon Kalou, Yann M’Vila and Steven N’Zonzi

Arsene Wenger will make a push for a giant clear out before pressing ahead with more summer signings.

Arsenal transfer fixer d*ck Law is trying to offload Nicklas Bendtner, Denilson, Lukasz Fabianski and Carlos Vela as a priority in the next two weeks.

Bendtner has returned from a loan spell at Sunderland but they do not want to buy him and his most likely destination is Germany.

Fabianski is keen to move on to get regular games while Vela is wanted by Real Sociedad and Espanyol. Denilson is preparing to come back from a loan spell at Sao Paolo and is determined not to be forced into a pay cut from his £50,000-a-week contract.

That is the biggest obstacle facing Arsenal’s clear out although Manuel Almunia - who is on West Ham’s radar - is out of contract and Andrey Arshavin is likely to make his loan move to Zenit St Petersburg permanent.

Arsenal may also listen to offers for Johan Djourou as they look for a new centre half. The club are hoping to get rid of Sebastien Squillaci even though Spurs appear to have jumped ahead in the race to sign Ajax defender Jan Vertonghen.

Blackburn’s Junior Hoilett, free agent Salomon Kalou, Rennes midfielder Yann M’Vila and Blackburn’s Steven N’Zonzi are all on the radar but Wenger has already insisted they will not spend too much in the market.

Crewe midfield prodigy Nick Powell, 18, is also on Arsenal’s hit-list - they face competition from Chelsea - but any of the bigger deals are only likely to be sanctioned after first signs of progress are made on the clear out.

Arsenal have opened discussions with a host of clubs over their unwanted stars as they attempt to slash £23million off their wage bill this summer.

Negotiations have already taken place with Zenit St Petersburg over the permanent transfer of Andrey Arshavin, who spent the end of last season on loan at his boyhood club.

Borussia Dortmund are understood to have inquired about striker Nicklas Bendtner, who has returned to Arsenal after his loan spell at Sunderland.

Arsenal are aware of interest from Espanyol in Mexico forward Carlos Vela, who spent last season at La Liga club Real Sociedad, while Bolton have registered an interest in taking Ryo Miyaichi back on loan after his spell last season.

The Gunners are also seeking buyers for Marouane Chamakh, Denilson and Johan Djourou.

It is also understood the club will try to negotiate a contract settlement with Sebastien Squillaci, who has a year left to run on his deal.

Manuel Almunia’s contract expires next month while fellow goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski also wants to leave, with both interesting newly promoted West Ham.
