When Arsenal first got in the Champions League I'm sure Wenger threw away the group stages at Wembley and focused on getting in the Champions League next year.Wenger saw that showing you can get in the Champions League over 1 decent run was more important in the long run by being able to attract the right talent and building a stronger team than having a Monaco/Porto/Tottenham short run success.Thats when you thank yourself you have a manager educated to degree level rather than one manager who comes off the back of a market in West London selling tinned sausages and beef cakes.
