Guys like tinie, tinchy and wretch all seem calm and not about that life, im sure theyre much easier manageable and can be presented to the media without any controversy or wrong things being said. Majors view their artist as a product pretty much they are more business orientated Independents are willing to back an artist and their style without trying to change them. Majors do have the financial muscle but i am led to believe that they do not understand the urban artist in the UK If you look at takeover entertainment although they distribute their music through sony, if you look at their past artist. Dappy,Tinchy and Ndubz, they were able to achieve top ten singles market and position them in the mainstream market, which other major labels struggled to do in this country. At the end of the day a DIY artist has to be hustling like an artist on an independent or major. You gotta take your shit THAT seriously, draw up a schedule, budget, hitting up djs, recording, features. If you got the cake get Klash on a tune for 5 bills for example, that ain't a ridic amount of dough and people will look at you with more credibility immediately. If you got the dough go on Sbtv every 2 months if you can, do an F64 and do a video with them every 2 months. Advertise your shit on youtube and facebook, get your tape featured on dat piff for 3 bills. There are ways to make a little money stretch far but you gotta think outside the box a little, fuck next man getting signed to dead deals, build your buzz yourself and you go to the table with more chips when it's time to sign.
