What a captain

33 mins in 19 months

Check his resume

He gets the job done our Stevie

He will catch another lesson of chasing shadows, The exact same one he was handed on November 2010

Yeah but he brings the best out of everyone

You forget he was englands best player at the last world cup

No way he was

He had one good half against USA

Went missing against the likes of Algeria/Slovenia

Forget the German game

sturridge should of went instead of downing

This.

You've left out a CL Finalist whose burnt Dani Alves for pace from half way line for Stewart Downing whose scored 1 goal and 0 assists this year and finished 8th in league

for real and sturridge's through balls >>>>>>>>>>>>>> cheez!

If England actually played Gerrard in his proper position instead of shoeing him into the team he may have performed better than he has at major tournaments but he's still bagged at the last 3 major tournaments he's been at.

Downing's inclusion is inexcusable for his cowardice alone, as a winger you should always be one of those players the rest of them team are looking for to make something happen when you're in a tough spot. Downing isn't that guy in any way, shape, direction, manner or form - he's a shithouse.

Gerrard's best position?

Please don't say CM

I realised Gerrard always has excuses made for him

They blamed Lampard for failings during 04-06

Now in SA he was played out of position

So where did he play on the night against Croatia at Wembley?

Look you know how it goes

Great at club level and average at international level

what is gerrards proper position

thats all ive heard for the last fucking decade

play him in his proper position.... defensive mid....center mid...box to box.....right mid...attacking mid...number 10...false number 9

hes played all these positions and when he does people scream play him in his proper position

the guy is the ultimate kick rush player 0 tactical awareness... go on the pitch play hollywood balls and look to bomb forward into the box at every opportunity in whatever position he plays.... you cant win titles with guys like this in your side and if you use him in international tournaments lmao

"It was purely a footballing decision," he told Sky Sports News HD.

"Rio is a man that I both respect as a player and as a person. I don't know him well personally, but I have seen enough of him over the years to realise what a fine footballer he is and what a good person he is.

"But I had to make a footballing decision and to decide on the basis of what I have seen in recent months, and it was influenced to some extent by the fact that Rio hasn't played so much since the World Cupspacer.gif and has only played once for England in the last year.

"On a footballing basis, I wanted people like (Phil) Jones in the squad because he helps balance out for me at right-back in the absence of Kyle Walker.spacer.gif

Who said CM though?

Off the striker is his best position instead of being sat deep to accomodate Lampard like he has the discipline to dictate the play from there.

You're gonna point to a game against Croatia as proof he isn't good in a position, lol I thought you were brighter than that.
