Aaliyah is the definition of over-rated. Extremely average singer carried by the production skills of Timbaland and the writing of Missy Elliott and R Kelly. I cringe when I hear people say that if she were still alive today, she'd be on Beyonce's level. Singers from her era and age range such as Monica overshadow her yet still fade into obscurity when Aaliyah's name is mentioned.

Aaliyah wasn't outstanding vocally but of that era only Brandy has anywhere near as many zangers, plus her last album before she died is seriously under rated.
