underwriter
So december fast approaching and obviously the end of year is in like 5 weeks... If you have say 25 days holiday, can your employer pay that to you by bank transfer and you just work through december? Or do you have to take those days before end of year? If thats the case, thats the whole of december off...
Fighting Weight
It will depend on your contract. You may have it that if you don't take your leave, you are reimbursed for it financially. Some companies will have a 'use it or lose it' policy. Some will let you carry it over. Some will have a mix of both, where you will be able to carry maybe 5 days over, but no more. The rest you lose.

Lens
likely scenario is that to carry it over You have to attempt to book it for this year, then if the request is rejected they will carry it over. fill in a holiday form for 25 days off in december in any case

Mizchif
As above. You can sometimes leave aswell and in your notice period ask to take your holiday, but you do need to check your contract and speak to HR if you have a team

underwriter
my line manager is telling me because i started in september and december is coming up i get a total of (rounded up) 7 days of holiday? he did it as: 20/12 = 1.6666667 then he times that by 4 which rounds up to 7 (the reason why im asking these questions is because i do not have a contract just yet and i do not want to impinge myself if the contract isnt for me) moving on, im pretty sure once you pass 3 month probation, you get all the usual perks? 20/22/25 etc days holiday and all the other stuff the company has to offer? or am i terribly wrong? Mongy
My holidays run from April to April. If we don't take the annual leave then we will lose it, simple. If we hand in our notice (4 weeks), then we are given the rest of our annual leave in that 4 weeks.
