Ofcom 'assessing' Celebrity Big Brother RACE row as viewers complain about John Partridge's 'chicken' remark to Tiffany Pollard

Celebrity Big Brother housemate John Partridge is caught up in a race row, following an argument with Tiffany Pollard.

During Tuesday night's CBB - Tiffany became hysterical after assuming David Gest had died in the Diary Room.

Following the incident she was asked to leave by the former EastEnders actor and other housemates because of her reaction and this upset some viewers.

While many CBB fans complained that it was unfair for the US reality star to be 'isolated' and 'abused', other viewers have alleged John's 'chicken' comment was racial motivated, which Ofcom are now assessing.

Partridge said: "[Tiffany] only wants to come to talk to us now cos she’s hungry and wants some chicken."

Viewers are alleging that John was racist in the house

The CBB housemates demanded Tiffany leave the house after she laughed at causing havoc by misunderstanding what Angie Bowie had said to her.

American reality star Tiffany found herself shrieking and upset when Angie told her that her ex-husband, musical legend David Bowie had died, but she misunderstood and thought David Gest had died.

John Partridge later told Tiffany how serious the situation was and that people were ready to leave if she stayed - because they felt threatened by her and didn’t want her in the house.

She replied: “Well that’s too bad!”

Tiffany refused to apologise to Angie over her behaviour, and then insisted that she wouldn't leave the house.

Following Tiffany's outburst she was alone in the garden of the CBB house.

At one stage Christopher Maloney tried to make things right with the housemates and asked John if she could come back in.

Partridge replied: "She only wants to come to talk to us now cos she’s hungry and wants some chicken."

 

 

Tiffany can't believe what Angie has just told her

Some viewers have taken offence to the alleged racial remark, saying that John's 'chicken' reference pandered to an offensive stereotype.

According to Ofcom there have been 211 complaints for Tuesday night's episode.

'41 complaints over bullying towards Tiffany by other housemates'.

'154 complaints that it was in bad taste to televise Angie being told of David Bowie's death'.

'16 complaints objecting to Tiffany's hysterical reaction and subsequent aggression around misunderstanding of David Bowie / David Guest death'.

An Ofcom spokesperson said: “We will assess these complaints before deciding whether to investigate or not”.

 

 

On Twitter, one viewer said: "#cbb painting Tiffany as the angry black woman, John's racist remark, and everyone else's racist behaviour by trying to oust her is gross.”

Another posted: "Knew John was acting the whole time.. Why didn't he go off on Winston? Disgusting racist comment too.. Poor Tiffany did nothing wrong #cbb"

A viewer also tweeted: "listen that john guy is racist. He made a comment about chicken towards tiffany. Didnt clock at 1st"

While one simply tweeted: "Tiffany likes chicken. It is not racist."

John Partridge's reps have contacted for comment.

 

Channel 5 have refused to comment on the situation.

In the Diary Room, Tiffany believed everybody was "ganging up" on her and that she didn’t do anything wrong.

She said: “They will have to get me evicted, I’m not just going to walk off, I’m not a quitter! I didn’t do anything.”

In the bathroom, Jeremy and Stephanie later said they will not isolate anyone in the house.

A calm Tiffany then left the Diary Room, and returned to the house but most of her fellow housemates refused to speak to her.

Walking into the bedroom, Nancy Dell'Olio offered her a shoulder and a hug before Tiffany confirmed she reacted that way because she believed David Gest had died in the house.

Later, Tiffany made up with most of the housemates but there was a noticeable atmosphere.
