As humans we think we're special or something and can change the course of stuff, or wish/will stuff into its just ego rubbing to stop ourselves thinking about how pointless out individual existenses are amongst trillions of other organisms

Meticulous
lol @ anyone who thinks theres nothing more to this world than what you can measure with your eyes. luck can be swayed. OP i recommend you read the alchemist by paulo coelho, it touches on 'beginners luck', omens, etc.

Meticulous
so luck cant swing my way because a child was born into disease?
james00
so luck cant swing my way because a child was born into disease? If you define luck as a conscious distributor of fortune then believing that it favours you over others makes you a narcissist, yes.
Meticulous
you didnt answer my question im not asking you if im a narcissist im asking you, are you saying that because children are born into diseases, luck cannot be swung into mine or anyone elses favour? I don't agree with the premise that luck is swung. My definition of luck is random chance that creates a favorable outcome. events like the lottery, an immune system preventing the chance of diseases, good genes these things best describe luck. prayer, karma, crystals or totem cards this is all bad logic to think that luck is a quantifiable entity that you can get hold of. Seydou
So you're saying a child can have a disease whilst someone else could be lucky enough to win the lottery? Aren't you more or less agreeing with him?
james00
So you're saying a child can have a disease whilst someone else could be lucky enough to win the lottery? Meticulous
so if we have 2 people, one of whom reckons they are generally quite lucky and the other thinks the opposite about themselves, and you set them a seemingly random task like flipping a coin and getting heads 5x in a row go and ask a psychologist who they would put their money on if they had to
james00
well until there's evidence luck can be quantified and put through the scientific method i disagree with that worldview. my original comment is more to the theistic idea that luck is given to blessed individuals whilst starving babies die.
