I got a Cartier watch and a white gold and yellow gold bracelet handed down to me from my DadWouldn't ever wear them then.

cartier santos is one of the watches on my list still. gonna need a couple solid years after uni though to even consider it.

My Granddad was friends with Prince of Spain when he used to do soliciting work for him back in his day.The prince gave it to my Granddad and it's been passed down to me. It's a serious watch, would love to have the balls to wear it.

Usually 2 earringsEyebrow piercing1 ear got infected so I took it out and now its sealed.Eyebrow piercing fell out somehow and when I woke up in the morning it had sealed up.Used to wear chains but I'm not feeling them kind of looks since I turned 21. Have a 22ct Gold ring and gold chain that I never wear. Yellow gold and darker Asian skin ain't the one.Had a pair of Gucci Dog Tags but they broke in a club. Might just buy them again.

why is that?

I guess I think about it a bit too much. People will say "yeah it looks good", and true, I suppose it does. But I'm not mesmerized enough that I'll pay exorbitant prices for some metal with no practical use. It is decorative, but the meta message behind jewelery is one of status, and I detest status symbols on principle. You're essentially saying that you're affluent enough to spend your income on extravagant decorative metals/stones (of course, this is hardly ever the case). It's a trend established back when gold was currency, and so wearing it was a signal that you had so much wealth/influence that you can decorate yourself with money (again, hardly ever the case today). Even if I was seriously minted, I would still have a thousand better things to spend my money on.If you ask yourself why they're so coveted and valuable, the only answers are silly. Coz they look nice? Human fixation with gold/silver/diamonds is eerily-reminiscent of junkies, all fascinated by shiny objects and sh*t.And even putting all that aside; I'd rather not be contributing to the demand which means some poor kid in Sierra Leone will get his legs blown off in a battle over diamond fields.
