Only go half size up use to go true size because I like the snug fit,but since about 11 I played with ankle supports on and the extra thickness use to really annoyed me round the heal especial since they started to put heel counters on boots too

Think i might try a 9 and see how they fit because in one of the pairs I struggled to get my heel in. That's assuming they don't have 8 1/2.
