Pro plays like a full on arcade game (the last one did anyway)

Changes wise, the first thing you'll notice with PES 2009 is how much more measured the game plays. The zippy arcade feel has been substituted so now the game - like ageing Hull City striker, Dean Windass - has a slower approach than previous seasons.

PODCAST 045 - Caniggia’s SongA hectic time of year for all, but a good time of year for gamers. Football fever is just around the corner with the release of PES 2009 and we want to give you the most insight into what to expect with Konami’s franchise this year. Enter, CANIGGIA himself. A good friend of the WENB team and an active member of the WE/PES community for years. He himself has been running a PES blog in his native Scandinavia since 2005.The man has recently played the latest build of PES 2009 at an event in Copenhagen, Denmark. So we begged him to come on this week’s podcast to give you all his own personal insight into what to expect this year and how he feels about it. I personally take a little time to talk about all the latest news first from the last 10 days. Its a big one lads so tune in…I want to thank Caniggia for taking the time out to record this podcast with me this evening under such short notice. Unfortunately, no Adam this week but rest assured he’ll be back with a bang for next week’s blockbuster.http://www.zshare.net/audio/192305767ab609d3/43 Minutes - MP3 (CD Quality)Hit us with some comments,WENB Team
Seeing as most people won't listen to it I might as well drop you few points from what I've heard:
  • No official release date for the Demo.
  • New images, players stats and info should be available after Friday or some time next week.
  • English and German fans have been testing out the online mode and they say its a big improvement from PES 2008.
  • AI has improved especially in Defence. Marking is better so fullbacks won't give wingers as much space as they did last year and will work harder to stop crosses. (This also happens not only when a play against the computer but also against friends so cutback kings are gonna be pissed)
  • More tactical in defence that 2008. More realistic scorelines.
  • When taking corners and free-kicks the movement of the players in the box has improved with players making better runs to win headers and battling with defenders.
  • Konami have really captured the atmosphere and the tension of the Champions league. You can edit what teams are in the league.
  • Gameplay feels a lil' bit slower than PES 2008 but not a really really big difference.
  • Have to use the R2 button to control the ball.
  • Graphics are sharper and the weather conditions are better.

Have to use the R2 button to control the ball.?
This was in PES2008 still wasn't it? Where if you hold R2 when the balls comin to u it will make the player control it better and quicker.
Seen, didn't know that.Knew you could use R2 to control the player off the ball or something
