Just read: 'I hope they serve beer in hell'
Wicked book.Finished George Orwell - 1984 this morningGonna start reading John Peel's bio sometime today along with the constant Harry Potter reading.
i felt the ending let the whole book downcurrently reading "half of a yellow sun" by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. The books about the baifrian war in Nigeria (a civil war in the 60's/70's)books been quite decent so far, but its from the igbo perspective so its a little bias when recounting certain historical ambiguities.
Highlight the spoilersIt wouldn't have been believable if the brotherhood did eventually usurp big brother and if it did and the brotherhood ended up using the same sort of iron fist as the government before them did (as would have happened according to The Book) there would have been too many paralells to Animal Farm. I didn't care much for the ending either though could've been betterI didn't care for it much either though, on the subject of african literature have you read "Things Fall Apart" by Chinua Achebe, my mum has like a bookshelf full of all these african/afrocentric books so i've decided to dwelve into it, things fall apart is a classic recognised even by the western world so if you haven't read it i reccomend it (even though i havent read it)

I just finished Will Self - Feeding Frenzy, a compilation of random writings of his from 1995-2000And now moving onto Jared Diamond - Collapse, which is a macro examination of how & why some societies collapse and become extinct, and why others endure
Hmm, well in 1968 there was a report released (kerner report) that said america was heading towards two societies, one black one white, separate and unequal. I was thinking of analysing from then until now whether african americans have progressed economically, socially and politically. But im not fully sure if im going to do it yet.
If you do end up looking at that line of enquiry, I'd be interested in reading the final product
Cool, if i do it and its any good will let you have a read.

Just finished the Life of Pi, Reminisces of a Stock Operator, and Traders Guns and Money. Now moved on the the Plot Against America.

The Art of War, swear I can't get round to getting back to this, it's such a small book but seems to go on forever lol, the damn translator's intro is more than a quarter of the book and I still haven't gotten past that
48 Laws of Power - Robert Greene
Looking to read these two next, and then The Count of Monte Cristo and then The Midnight Children.

Running Rings - John McLaren, the ending was so dissapointing, was more like a comedy.I remember reading some of "Traders, Guns and Money" for an essay i had to write on derivatives and risk, boring book me thinks.I want to read Liars Poker, heard it's jokes.

Trying to find excitement, or utility through writing an essay about derivatives and risk is a lost cause.I have also read Liars Poker, which is not funny/entertaining past the first chapter.
