Rsonist
Guy smacks it on another forum - The smoke monster has already been revealed to have the name Cerberus, which is of course the three-headed dog that guarded the gate of Hades who is the God of the underworld, but also directly translates to the underworld itself. The smoke monster is nothing more than Esau's guardian, don't really think it's Esau himself, but yet somehow directly relates to him. Also, Hades in Christianity terms refers to the abode of the dead and where the dead await Judgment Day, either in peace or torment.. What has the smoke monster been all along? The being that judges those on the island (Eko, Locke, Ben... blah blah blah)Greek, Roman, Christianity, Egyptian blah blah blah.. All types of mythologies and religious backgrounds going around right? Well let's look at a few more things..The statue that we were finally shown at the beginning is that of the Egyptian god Sobek. Sobek was a creator God in Egypt and is defined as being "a repairer of evil that had been done, rather than a force of good in itself". A repairer of evil? Hmmmmmm...Interestingly enough (does this have any significance?) Another Egyptian God is that of Horus, along with stories of the Four Sons of Horus.. The makeup of Horus is also one of the main reasons that Egyptians viewed "multiple facets of reality". Also, there is a lot of talk that actually compares Horus to Jesus.. This might not relate to anything at all, but interesting coincidence, who knows.Apparently, Benjamin is actually Jacob's youngest son, not his brother (in the bible), also in the Bible, Aaron is a direct descendant of Jacob. Also, when asked what lies in the shadow of the statue, Richard says "Ille que nos omnis servabit" means "He who will save/protect us all" in Latin. That would be Jacob..On another path with Jacob and his belief in good and this intention of changing the past. How about him visiting the survivors back in time and "his touch". Back when Kate stole the lunchbox, he intervened, thus leading Kate down the road of good and not committing crimes. Offering Young Sawyer the pen, which led him to continue writing the letter and getting caught by a relative, thus having him not finish the letter, and possibly leading him down the road of good by not living a life of revenge. Sayid's wife dying in an accident instead of being murdered, helping Sayid not go down that same road of revenge. Also kind of interesting how Jacob visited Kate and Sawyer in the same time frame that they're stuck in the past. Who knows, just saying..It's also interesting to note that the first time we see the new "alive" John Locke he was wearing a black robe. And how about when Esau as John Locke had Richard tell the alive John Locke during the time skips that he had to die in order for the others to return to the island, which was the final step in the loophole being completed. How complex..Back to names. I got to wondering how Daniel actually got the last name of "Faraday". Looking online, it seems there was actually a scientist (one of the most influential scientists in history, at that) with the name Michael Faraday. He was a chemist and physicist that discovered electromagnetic induction and that magnetism could affect rays of light and that there is an underlying relationship in that phenomenon. Doesn't really have anything to do with Lost, but still, lol..And the eye at the end of the episode? Yes, it's Jack's eye, but what does it mean? After the explosion, he will wake up in the same fashion as we were introduced to him in the pilot, as well as his return to the island. But, back in 2007 along with the rest of them. The whole white time flash led to a nuclear fallout, hence why we see Desmond in a radiation suit, why women could no longer be fruitful on the island, and why Adam and Eve (or Rose and Bernard) weren't able to live on the island.Sorry for another novel
A Bit Better
The paragraph about Horus seems to bear no significance to the rest of the post. Wtf.And I swear Sawyer finished the letter and made the dude read it before he killed him?I didn't buy the last paragraph. The women being fruitful was a case of them getting pregnant on the island. It wasn't about them being able to bear children. If they got pregnant off the island then they could have the child.Interesting idea about Rose and Bernard being Adam and Eve. I like that. And the bit about Faraday's last name. Dunno why I only ever briefly wondered how he got his surname. I just assumed it was his dad but when I found out his dad was Widmore I never went back to questioning the name again.

Fearless-Guy
not sure i agree with everything in there, there are alot of assumptions hes made that we cant possibly know until s6 but then again speculation is the name of the game atmbut... the last paragraph negates the fact that richard tells sun that he 'watched them all die' in 77. so not sure if they do just transport back to current time after that white flash they probably have more to do.also the statue could be sobek or it could be taweret
A Bit Better
Spoke to my Egyptian friend at a barbecue yesterday. He also watches Lost and he says the statue is Set, the god of desert, storm, darkness and chaos. He says Set killed his brother Osiris (the god of fertility) and dismembered his body and scattered the parts across the world. Dunno how that works out though as Set is the one that has clearly been dismembered. But he's saying that's all part of the brother rivalry thing. Dubby
The statue is Taweret
A Bit Better
Could easily be Sobek. Unless you have real evidence, nothing about Lost should be stated as if it is fact.
Colin Turnover
By my understanding, Taweret has two forms.1) Is the hippo with large breasts (Which the statue in lost looks nothing like)2) Still the hippo, but with a crocodile hanging of it's back.It could be a mixture between Sobek and Tawaret? It would be slightly disappointing if Lost is basically going off Egyptian mythology and not having it's own twist on things.+I don't agree with the quote Tanner posted, either. menace-II-society
Does anyone have a link for episodes 14, 15, 16 or any other source for watching it ?
Dubby
Apparently on the official Lost website on the episode summary, it says the statue has hippo-like features (alongside crocodile and whatnot) which the forums are saying proves it must be Tawaret.I personally don't care tbh, as long as we get an answer to everything in the next series I'll be happy. Fearless-Guy
Who knows? It was just two clips they showed at a convention in the states. They show them and let them speak for themselves, they might be a part of the storyline or not?! But yeah, if they are true, it would seem they have changed the future - the numbers are now lucky for hurley, and the plane never crashed. Also, in the first video there are lookalikes for me(locke), jack&kate and michael n walt sitting in the diner, watch again.
