why do people still feel the need to defend this whole blacks invented this, we did this first, they conquered so and so. its all petty. As an AFRICAN I know my continent has being raped of its resources for years but as a people we are moving forward, the bitterness of what the white man did or didnt do has the strong power to withhold us from being objective and doing what we need to do in these times to succeed. See the Mugabes of this world, they are so taunted by the past dealings of the british and other western empires that they practically blame every social and economic injustice they are currently going through on the them.Dont get me wrong, history shows that our progress as a race has being slowed down significantly by what happened decades ago, but if we are not more smart, endearing and selective about what we teach in black history and focus solely on the "slavery" path we will continue to scar our children and in turn further slow down or even pause their progress.
E-spuds...+ As an african, my history didn't start from slavery...
Its your opinion and all but that was some bullshit.Since when does learning about the past not only hold you back in the future but stop you leading a normal life? If anything, doesnt it help if you know what the people before you fell for so you dont go down that road? Then you go on to say not teaching slavery, well the things about inventing is prior to slavery, no?And you speak of Mugabe like he just got mad cos what had gone on in the past. He acted on what was going on in the present. And wasnt it the Dutch who were there not English (not rhetorical this time)?Show me where these African countries are moving forward. I dont really know about that stuff and would be interested to find out.Stick to being proud of your ignorance but llow preaching to people like they shouldnt care when you have little understanding yourselfAnde lol @ afroman, your history isnt a great deal longer. We know youve been there forever but your sh*t got bunned down meaning you dont know sh*t.Face Off, the above statements are examples of what I dont like about many black people.

ur the one who seems to be getting hooked about slavery, or having your resources raped. people are very well informed of the bitterness aspect of black history. you keep mentioning it. every great civilization holds on to tradition and history. once that is lost then people can tell them anything.. Africa has an identity crisis which is just as bad as the corruption and is also a reason why it's progress has slowed down. every country is corrupt...but not every country has an identity crisis. but in any case i was talking about the history from a personal point of view and how it can positively affect black people who grow up in the west bcos all they are presented with is a history of slavery and colonialism.+
oh come off it. Im not trying to put down the black race but almost every significant invention has been made by a european.
the first two european countries to come out of the Renaissance were the ones ruled by the moors. its like when angelo claims that the egyptians dealt in 'basic maths' unlike the greeks who had great mathematicians like pythagoras, who is called the "father of maths" BUT.. the guy went to egypt..and spent 23 friggin years learning with the mathematicians there... so like i said black history is for everyone. i cant blame you cos you have been told different.

can not blame these people though they don't check into things deeply and believe everything they read and are toldmy brother is like that and it pisses me off how naive he is to certain things but I class allot of it on the way they perceive life

  • 4 years later...

a lot of them are tho

A few of the pharoes were black

those aren't Egyptians.

Of course the Egyptians were black,

look at the size of the bums on the hieroglyphics I was told white people scratched of the brown paint on the pictures because they were jealous that black people could invent such greatness

black people invented their own backsides?

makes sense.
